Re: How can I put a clean hole in a glass tube, without shattering the tube?
1. If it's made for heat get a torch( butane, mini torch or whatever) but it has to be hot then put a stopper in one end and a piece of tight fitting hose on the other heat glass wherever you want the hole becareful it will bend, twist,and/or stretch easily when heated then gently blow and hold pressure untill a hole pop in the glass. (hopefully you have enough glass for a few f#*k ups )
2. if you think you can drill it buy a glass cutting bit becareful it will break if it is thinor too much pressure applied.
3. take a tapered file and gently file. the only problem it won't be round either square or diamond again be careful to much pressure and it will break.

Re: How can I put a clean hole in a glass tube, without shattering the tube?
suggestion:
if you want a hole in glass tube, start with a 1/16" black diamond tipped drill bit and a drill press, drill, or mill (if you have access to a mill), that will get you at least 3000 plus rpm. some water soluable cutting tool solution. the method works fine, take your time, very light pressure, and step up in drill bit sizes as you go to pre-determine size. pressure is the key. if you have little knowledge of machining, do not attempt this, but remember, light pressure is the key!
