No he's not gonna win a popularity contest, but if youve got some wierd ass question that has to do with shit that most of us don't have a clue as to what the fuck you're talking about...He's got the answer. If you want to know how hard it is to moderate a forum like this one, I'm sure both Tryp and AM would be glad to fill you in on the headaches that go along with it. (The admins. probably wouldn't let you take it for a test drive cause they'd need to know ya better.)

You are talking about two totally different personality types here. Do you really think Tryp is competing or feels threatened? or vise versa for that matter? I don't think so. You guys correct me if I'm wrong, but lets see if I can hit a few of the major traits. (As I know neither of you personally, please don't take offense if I am 180 degrees off.)

Tryptamine moderates from a no bullshit standpoint. Answers are clear and concise. Accurate to a "T", he has a considerable amount of book knowledge with a broad chemistry base. He makes a concerted effort to match the level of information given with the perceived level of the questioning posters understanding. He is somewhat even tempered, not angering too easily, but still able to rip some ass when necessary. He also will wait and see how others handle the thread before jumping in with a response. I believe he is currently ( or very recently was) a student of some sort and seems to be either quite busy, or preoccupied with personal shit. My guess is, if its personal, its shit!

Now, Acidmelt, on the other hand, is a very different person. He is much harder to characterize. When I first read some of his work, I thought this dude probably wrote this stuff a long time ago (in this area of study, we're talking computer life spans. So, a couple of years ago.) due to the fact that some of it appeared to be a bit dated. However, this did not cause me to question his knowledge. Actually, it was quite the contrary. Someone studying and experimenting and growing in experience for as long as it seemed he had been, must be awesome. You see, I firmly believe in the philosophy of experience being the greater teacher than cognitive understanding. You can know everything there is to know about the growth, fertilization, flower production, and harvesting of marijuana, but until you've grown a four foot bud and felt its softness, then stickiness and smelled its beautiful aroma (sorry about that, its the best example I could come up with) you have no experience growing pot.

I believe Acidmelt has a vast amount of experience in the areas he enjoys, and can speak both knowledgeably and passionately about it. That brings me to his attitude. AM is a fireball. You pisshim off and he will fire back with guns blazing. Rationality is of no great concern when it is obvious to the informed that someone is blowing smoke. This, along with his reputation and presence, is what you are impressed with. It is impressive, but not so much that it overwhelms Tryptamine.

I hope this is taken in the proper context; In a contest of general chemistry knowledge, Tryptamine would take the gold cup. In all fairness, it also seems obvious that in a contest in which practical knowledge, accumulated experience, and on the fly improvisation and decision making were tested, Acidmelt would have all my money riding on him.

So, you see, you may be looking at the situation all wrong. You may be criticizing someone who doesn't need this kind of bullshit right now. Its really not our place to question what he has going on in his life that prevents him from being here. Its not a friggin' paying job, its a hobby at best. If you're not having fun, back up a bit, then come back when your vision clears. Maybe thats what he's doing.

I like you shooter. You're a good ole Texas boy. This post was definitely not directed toward you harshly (as anyone who has ever read gotta's harsh can attest to). Instead, its meant to provoke thought in the minds of all here to the fact that this forum has been given a gift lately of unprecedented value. Not only has it been graced with yet another talented moderator, it has received an influx of knowledgable, fresh posters and responders due to the sudden loss of their gathering place. Considering the social environment of other sites of its kind, totse is, by far, the best choice.

So, for those of you saying, "HUH???!!!"

If you're a newbee to this craft or hobby, then there has never been a better time than right now to get quality answers for all your completely off the wall and ridiculously stupid unresearched questions from a great deal more, experienced craftsmen (unisex term), as well as two, really smart moderators.

Howdy gotta, I've always like you too, so I don't want anything to seem "standoffish" with this thread...just "conversating" and getting to know each other and shit.

Swiss is a good 'ole boy from Texas, but is a bit more "sophisticated", if you will, for lack of better words. He is a bit different than the stereotypical Southern "good 'ole boy" from Texas, though he is very familiar with them born and raised with 'em and posses many of the "qualities" they have (rather good or bad, not that your saying anything bad at all.)

I don't question how hard the moderator job is, never have and don't know what I could have said to imply anything like that.

I don't know if tryp feels threatened, I don't have a clue, I just hope tryp doesn't feel that way, and if he did, maybe make him feel a little better. I mean, you gotta (no pun intended) admit that all things considered, this is a possibillity, I could be wrong, it was a guess and I only had good intensions.

I don't know if tryp is/was a student for sure iether, I'd say so too...but I do know that AM is a student, and is in fact doing or just got through doing midterms, has a job, and still finds time to do totse and handle his personal business too!

Shooter, Red lobster is the reference from Happy Gilmore's Shooter McGavin. The guy hired to mess up Happy's game always wanted to invite shooter to Red Lobster. Unfortunately, I used to watch way too many movies and the lines stuck in my head come rolling out when something reminds me of them.
