A few questions.
Swiss would like to start incorporating rocksalt into his strategies. Any suggestions from anyone that has "hands on" solid info on preparations or techniques would be appreciated.
(I've heard before the RS is fully effective, it must be oven heated for a certain amount of time at a certain temp.(?)
Also, How is one to know when a +ph of 14 has been reached when using the 3-way test strips for pools (Wal-Mart)? I've only seen them go as far as dark pink almost purple color, and I believe the chart only shows up to 8.9, which is close to that color.

Re: A few questions.
Rock salts will work fine as long as they are baked dry as suggested with any salts.
Those 3 way strips are probably the same one's that SWIL uses(He doesn't get his from Wally World though). The pink on the bottle is 8+, well the brightest pink/purple that can be attained on those strips, along with the aqueous layer staying cloudy white from the addition of the base, indicates pH 14 to SWIL. Entirely visual methods for indicating pH do exist, and they work well with some experience. If the water/bottom/aqueous layer does not clear for several minutes, pH 14 has been attained.
