Red Phosphorus
Where would one obtain RP except not a matchbox. It seems like it would take several days to get 1 gram! Are there any other products that contain RP?

Re: Red Phosphorus
Zwit:
Although cutting matchbooks for hours doesn't seem too enticing, it really does have it's benefits. About 100 books will get 1 gram. That's 2 bucks a gram for MBRP(minus labor!).
Flares are another way to obtain RP, however, it seems to be more costly. SWIL can't remember the yield amounts, or flare costs, but a little more research should prove SWIL's logic. The good side to using flares is that the RP is supposedly already much better quality and shouldn't need as much pre-cleaning. The down side is that the purchase of road flares can be a little suspicious.
There are a few other methods, but in short, they all yield much less RP for the price. Cap Guns were thought to be a source, and SWIL remembers others speaking of their experiences, or rather, trial and error.
Lab-Grade is obtainable with more experience. The sources are around, one need only find them.

Re: Red Phosphorus
Thankyou. Where do you get matchbooks in Australia. We have mostly matchBOXES with patterned strikers. I have some old matchbooks lying around, but not 100!

Math books nor Match boxes in Australia have redP in them or on them so try a US distrubutor that will ship to the "Land down under" and you will get better results

Re: Red Phosphorus
Hmmm, in Australia huh?? I've never been there, but this I am sure of...In most grocery stores you can usually find a big box of the match"books" you may be looking for. They come in these boxes that contain like 50 books, or 1000 matches. So next time you happen to be shopping, ask the clerk for the big economy boxes of matchbooks. They only cost $1.00 or so. Good luck.
In light of slims comments. I dunno if that'll work or not. Though some of slim's previous posts have not been held in high regard.

I've heard that a road flare will yield about 0.1 grams.

Re: Red Phosphorus
Those figures of SWIWR's sound pretty on. SWIL remembers hearing stories of "chance buys" where somebody found 5 for 5 bucks. That's a little cheaper, but that type of deal doesn't come around often.
But as SWIL said, it is an option for closer to Lab-Grade RP. It's expensive, but for a super indiscreet way to access near LG, it is an alternative. SWIL hears that the RP obtained from such a source is far less likely to cause failed reactions.
Like SWIWR stated, the amount of effort one applies to such a project, is exactly what should be expected back out of it. The more patience, time, and learning involved, the better the chance at success. This doesn't go with just making meth, but with all things.
Can't half-ass it, cause 50% is Failing grade!!!
Where's that A+ product at??? That's what SWIL's working toward!

Re: Red Phosphorus
Well gooter,
I know personnally from working at a plastics facility, that acetone may be what is pulling glues off of the striker pads
in more than an undesirable manner.......
acetone is notorious for de-grading
low-density plastics and poly ethylene(we used acetone to clear any clogged molds
in facility...it would eat through some of the plastics that were being used to make deoderant caps and shit.)
But instead of using acetone....try this
Use acetone on 100 striker pads in one jar
then use isopropyl alcohol on 100 striker pads in another jar.....obtain your RP
from both setups like you normally would
test the integrity and quality from both
see witch one is better than the other.
I can almost guarantee using acetone to soak a matchbook striker is yanking the glues
and RP off the paper....while if you use
isopropyl-iso is less harsh on glues and plastics but will sufficiently pull of your RP DONT swish the strikers around till they are totally white, swish them till they have
NO rough surface...
I bet the isopropyl soaked strikers will yeild less glues/rubbers than the acetone soaked onws. acetone degrades hard plastics for christ sakes.

Re: Red Phosphorus
Swirh does not know if this is novel (prob not since most everything has been thought of or tried-and Swirh does no claim to new technique) but I have not seen it anywhere necessarily verbatim. Anyhow, Swirh uses about half gallon of denat per 1000 strips. Using drill and paint stirrer (that is from another tech) agitate until strips are clean. Remove strips (enjoy the woozy head if one does not use proper hand protection). Swirh has found that a good squeeze of strips (as opposed to rinsing small amounts of them in a strainer) does about an effective job of removing excess RP.
So now Swirh has bucket with half gallon of bloody denat. He then takes some distilled ice (ummm, you know storebought ice is distilled) about 3-4 of the glass two-cup measuring cups (so about 8 cups or so) and dumps into the mix. Then take very cold DH2O and pour about 1/2 gallon in there. Stir slightly with a big spoon and wait. Red foam should pop to the top and just take afore mentioned spoon and rake foam to the side (letting all the liquid run out of spoon) and transfer the foam to a vessel of DH2O. The level should not be so great as when a full boil is acheived that it comes over the top. Swirh uses a Vision to see all the action. Boil for couple or five minutes (good rolling boil). Remove from heat and pour everything through a coffee filter. Squeeze excess water out and repeat.
Most of the paper pulp can be decanted once one gets down to the bottom of the pot (it looks like a big white wad of snot). Repeat boiling until the DH2O looks clear after a minute of so of settling. If cloudy keep on cleaning. Usually takes about two boils but that is dependant upon the amount of water being used.
The remaining denat/DH2O/RP blend can be filtered (decanted the grey liquid after it settles) and one can remove some more super-gluey imbedded RP that will take considerable more time and attention to clean. Like a highschool crackwhore with a bad yeast infection. But still--waste not...
After final boiling and letting the ball (should be crumbly) of RP dry somewhat; then screen thru a strainer (1.00 variety). If any big pieces of paper are in the ball; they will ball up in strainer and prob not go through. So, that is one simple minded person's view of things. Hope it helps (or at least gives a different spin on things).

Re: Red Phosphorus
I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT RAIL ROAD FLARES, BOATING FLARES, AND ROAD HAZARD FLARE CAPS CONTAIN RED. I ALSO KNOW THAT THERE ARE WATER PROOF CAMPING MATCHES, YOU CAN GET 1 GRAM FROM 4 BOXES.
DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT/ SOMETHING ABOUT CHARCOAL AND SOME OTHER STUFF BARRIED IN A JAR TO YEILD CRYSTALS AFTER 30 DAYS?

Re: Red Phosphorus
Take a small pinch of the dried RP from flares, and test it by putting a flame to it.
It will ignite and start burning very brightly, and will probably start smoking. The quicker it lights, the better it is.

Dunno but if they are then steer well clear. White phos is HIGHLY reactive & as far as I know will ignite unless stored in water.

In Swirh's exp... the only flare caps he has ever seen were red...never cut open a rocket engine tho... always liked to watch them go up ya know? And dunno about the stability of WHITE P... but still stick with the call it ummmmm heh heh "gut" feeling that RP should be red. If Swirh is wrong... someone please let him know...

Re: Red Phosphorus
Red Phosphorus, Lab Grade, is maroonish-red. It can be powdered easily, and has a distinct smell.
SWIL once described the smell like after that of a hacksaw cutting fiercly through a piece of black ABS piping. RP smells very similar to that.
Weird.

Re: Red Phosphorus
white phospherous is not in rocket engines and neither is phoshorus you'd have to be a retard or just not know anything about RP or WP to think that. rocket engines are usually blackpowder binded with dextrin.

Everybody try and remember that, to date, sutt hasn't contributed one word of accurate or usable information to this forum. On the other hand, he has repeatedly coaxed the unsuspecting member into pondering dangerous combinations of chemicals or at the very least money wasting, time wasting QUICK & EASY solutions to the acquisitions scene.

Re: Red Phosphorus
in research, have read many things about re-using or re-firing rp. question is... if one were to use rp from matchbooks, would you need to use new or fresh rp from matchbooks each time? is matchbook rp re-fireable? can it be re-used?

Re: Red Phosphorus
Yes, it can be reused, however; it must undergo equal if not more cleaning than originally. SWIL reuses his MBRP, actually he is running a rxn currently with some.
After being sufficiently cleaned, the used MBRP was powdered. It "fired" off quite nicely.
