Does the red phosphorous have to be pure(cleaned)? or can just the final scrapings be used in making "medicine"?

If it does have to be cleaned, how would I do that?

Also, how much red phosphorous do I need to mix? The recipe calls for red phosphorous, ephidrine, and hydrochloric acid, but no measurements for any of these.

Lab grade red P will do that means pure.

Also some matchhead do contain Red P, but its dificult if not impossable to isolate. The strick pads are the sounrce of Red P.

OK....once again, yes it should be cleaned. Otherwise you'll end up with other crap like glass and sand...that's not good. Acetone wash: Add enough acetone to cover the globs and chunks of RP. (Again you can add heat if you like. Bring it to a controlled boil.) Mix for 5 to 10 minutes. Let cool or add a little cold water. Filter RP same way and return it to pot. (This will remove any glues or other acetone solvent junk.) Try that...and do yourself a favor and READ SOME MORE !!! (by the way....that was straight off the MATCHBOOK RED PHOS. BIBLE)
