DMT Extraction Proposal
Allright, I am not a scientist in even the least form, anyways the idea I am here to propose came to me in school today, and I havent had time to research it yet. Do you know how they extrac honey oil with butane, well I was wondering if Butane could possibly be used to make a pretty pure, pretty fast extraction of DMT. Im sorry if I am asking a totaly idiotic question, and I shure there is some big point I am missing. But anyways I just wanted to know if it were possible and if so if anyone would want to help me write a FAQ on it.
thanks

Re: DMT Extraction Proposal
I'm not a scientist as well, but I have done DMT extraction's before and I think you have to use an acid such as muriatic acid to remove the intitial compounds from the plant material. Butane is a base and therefore I'm not sure would work the same way. I suggest you just do the long process of the standard acid/base extraction using muriatic acid, lye, and then something like lighter fluid. It takes a while but it is worth it. Though like I said I'm not a scientist and may very well be wrong. Good luck

Re: DMT Extraction Proposal
DMT is an alkaloid, thus, it is best to use an A/B(acid/base) extract on it. In other words, use an acidified polar-solvent(water &/or an alcohol) to extract the alkaloid from the plant matterial, and then turn the alkaloid into an oil. That can be done with a base like sodium hydroxide(NaOH). Then the oil can be extracted out of the solution with a nnon-polar(NP) solvent like benzene. Then the alkaloid can be salted out of the NP hydrochloric acid or hydrogen chloride gas to form the HCl salt form.
By the way, this question should have really gone under Lab Tips.
