Is Providone-Iodine Solution 10% usable in making Iodine crystals? Would a tinted dish prevent enough light from degrading the I2 Crystals? I read the label, and it goes on to say that this solution is equivilent to 1% Iodine. I guess the main question would then be: Does the Providone prevent the synthises dH2o -MurAcid-HydroPerox from yielding Iodine Crystals?

i would not waste my time if i were you 1% it takes to much to get anywhere . cant swim find 2% at least . as for storage try a pill bottle works good . as for the ratio's for prov. idione could not tell you wont waste swims time with it..

Pikk, before you posted your reply, smim tried the synthesis and it seemed to work ok however, I ended up with a tar-like glop which weighed about 3.5 grams. It was almost bone dry and tar-like. Maybe swim messed up during the cleaning process, not sure. Can you elaborate? From now on however, swib will probably stick to the tincture iodine at 2%. cant find the 7% and swib is looking for the horsey hoof iodine.

prov has a tendcey to gum things up or at least with pills so it might do the same with i2 did you clean it real well with water . you could always sublime it but this is a pain in the ass .dont know i will look for some thing on this
