Couple of Q's on RP
First of all, as a Noob here, I appreciate the work of the Moderator, as misinformation seems to be the daily circle jerk of some here.
On to the important stuff:
1. I had read somewhere that the RP comes from the strike pad and NOT the matches (sticks or cardpaper matches)? Is this true? I am no chemist by any stretch, but I would think you would get the RP from the matches.
2. Do road flares contain useable RP? I opened one last night and it seemed to contain yellow P.

Re: Couple of Q's on RP
yes its from the strike pads of the matchbooks. stray away from diamond as there paint is urethane based and most likely will fuck everything up. plus they have a ton of other shit mixed in there. stick with off brands till you find something that works. as far as roadflares.... yes there is rp in the end of them (the strike part) but it is far more expensive per gram to use those

Re: Couple of Q's on RP
If you have yellow P it can be converted to red P by exposing it to bright light, of UV light.

Re: Couple of Q's on RP
There was no suggestion that it should be tried, but if scaled down & given some thought there is some valuable info to be gleaned from it, in Swim's opinion!!

Re: Couple of Q's on RP
thanks for the info guys! I think your match strike pads are my matches. to me the strike pads are the strips on the outside of the book or box that you use to light the match. i have printed the article on washing the RP, it is great reading!!

Re: Couple of Q's on RP
Not to be rude, but OUR strike pads are NOT your matches, at least not the heads of them. Our strike pads are your strike pads.
Maybe there was something lost in the translation & you already got this point. Just being sure!
I think the matchheads are sulfur-based & this is pretty much universal.
