I doubt anyone that likes the anime would want to have naked (or near naked) figures of the characters. Damn hentai!

I'd only pay money for that if it came with a tentacle monster too.
Then, a good time will be had by all!

What I want to know is, why are they being sold on GAINAX'S OFFICIAL WEBSITE?!?!
Jeez, you'd think the company who made the series would have more class.

Do some research into japan, they're way more lax on taboo things, such as boobies everywhere, its not that big of a deal. And Gainax makes them, so it seems natural that they would sell them.

Yar... he is right. Our culture has grown up on Christianity making sex taboo. I'm not really shocked, you walk down ginza street and see a couple of posters with half-naked women on them

They may be lax on some things, but your still a little off. Take pubic hair for example. Even in hardcore hentai they dont put pubic hair. They're also non-lax on male and female genetailia. So before telling people to do research on japan, I suggest you do some research yourself.

I'm unsure what some people find appealing about hentai. But hey, if you enjoy it, then go for it! My question is this: What do you find sexually arousing about hentai. I'm just curious.

I couldn't tell you. I guess because they can draw them in perfect proportions while real women always have some sort of flaw. That and they do stuff that real women would refuse to do.

^^Night Shift Nurses, also la blue girl has some pubic hair, although it could technically be called something else, more of a weapon when she gets attacked by the demon in the first movie. Dragon pink, third episode, pinks pubic hair is drawn, crudely however. And also I never mentioned anything about pubic hair, so why should I get lectured on it, I was responing that way in reply to posts on how the figurines look seeing as how some of them show boobies, so my point in hand was breasts, lack of western taboo, not bountiful pubic hair which is taboo and is generally blurred by mosaics. However recent changes in japanese society have become lax on pubic hair as well, which is now being included in nude photographs and photospreads. Also in Perfect Blue, Mima shows her pubic hair during her "photo shoot" with the sleazy photographer. So as time progresses, taboo's become less taboo, and pachinko is still one hell of an addicting game.

Re: Rei ayanami, Evangelion
And I forgot, but I guesss i'll include it while im here in a coherent state of mind, Hentai, the reason for it, and the reason for its weirdness and oddity:
Japan, being the conservative and honorific society they are, do not openly express affection and emotions to the broad public. Hentai is one way for fantasies and emotions to be let out, and known. Basically its there to entertain, and stimulate, seeing such vile acts, that a normal person wouldnt do, such is a reason for so many "rape" scenes to occur in hentai and ecchi films (word of the day "Ecchi" Pronounced with an H sound, so its like Heshi, but not; not to be confused with Hentai[perverted, pervert]But means a kinda lewd depiction) and is also cause for the tentacles, fairy's, mystical creatures, superhuman abilities, off the wall storylines, and just general softness.
Hentai is a mean to let loose what they have held inside in a safe and productive manner, I mean c'mon, how many people have bought dragon pink, one of the more interesting "hentai" series I have seen, with the exception of Cool Devices, sex with a door while your sister is on the other side, now that is f*cked up.
E] I realize now that I should have just made a new topic for all of this hentai stuff, only if devilishdestiny were still here to provide her input. *sigh* /e]

OTAKU'S! , that is the correct spelling, it means house in japanese. it came to be meaning a broad insult kind of word to someone who would spend all their time inside of their home taking care of whatever obsession they had, whether it be anime, action figures, or an odd collection of random bento boxes and onigiri makers shaped like hello kitty....
and just to be a dork, WATASHI NO OTAKU DESU!...=^..^= (odd little emoticon provided by "Take Care of My Cat" a korean independent film that chronicles the tale of Five friends as they part ways, but it mostly follows suh ji-young, cutey she is.

I only watched the first 5 minutes of the first episode, didn't like it. But your right that they do show pubic hair. They repealed the "no pubic hair" law recently. But even Perfect blue was banned in Japan for a long time because of pubic hair.
