What is it exactly that a chlorine donor does to intensify color in a composition. Like why does the addition of chlorine to the burning mix that causes flame color to be better? Also what qualifies something as a chlorine donor? Does it just have to be a compound capable of releasing chlorine to the mix or is there more to it that I'm missing? Also, I was thinking about trying sucralose as a combination chlorine donor/fuel. Just so you know sucralose is sucrose that's had some of the OH groups replaced with Cl and thus having it keep it's flavor but not have any calories hence it's use in splenda a sugar substitute. I'm pretty sure it should have similar fuel properties to regular sucrose. I apologise in advance if this thread is retarded as I'm really tired right now.
