you need a rat/mouse trap

steel piping

shotgun shells

a 2x4

a large drill bit (and a drill too, jackass)

fishing line

steady hands



take the mousetrap and mount it onto the 2x4 in any damn way you please. release the trap so it's snapped in the closed position, and find the approximate area you'd need to drill a hole so that the cross-bar would go across the center of the hole. drill the hole big enough to fit the piping into it, all the way through the other side of the 2x4. (obviously, make sure you have a pipe that fits snugly around the shotgun shell) epoxy the pipe into the drilled hole. tie the fishing line to the motion-sensitive little bait-plate on the rat/mouse trap to if the line is pulled, the trap is set off. stretch that line across where you want the trap to fire. point the end of the tube (without the shotgun shell in it) toward where you stretched the fishin line. set the trap, put the shell in, and get the fuck out of there!

(if you're using this outdoors, i'd recommend painting it to look like it's surroundings, it also works best in dark doorways or narrow hallways)
