not to be mean or cruel, but it sounds like you'd go blow something up (mailbox, trashcan) just by how you worded your post. I'm a bit reluctant to tell you but you could just try getting a box of strike anywhere matches, cutting the white tip off, and filling a tennis ball with them. Throw this towards a brick wall about 25 feet away. it should be satisfying enough for you. But please, don't go and make a bad name for people who practice caution and saftey by being a kewl. No I'm not a stupid little 11 year old kid who thinks he's "l337" I am just new to this and I was wondering what to try when starting out making explosives to get the hang of it. And of course I'd use safety procedures and I'm not planning on vandalising anything, I'm just wanna make a small, simple explosive, take it out to a field or another wide open area and just blow it up there without causing any direct damage to anyone.

ok, sorry for the assumption. The match head one should work or you could go to http://www.pyrostuff.com purchase some aluminium powder(Al) and some potassium perchlorate(KClO4 is the formula I think). mix it VERY CAREFULLY in a 70% KClO4 30% Al by weight. This is flash powder, wrap it in some paper or purchase some salute casings from the same website, and fill it 1/2 to 2/3 full put caps in both sides and put a fuse in it. This is basically an M-80. Don't be near it when it goes off because it hurts. Hope this helped.

if you're new...i only have one piece of advice= research everything you do. get a good idea, take it somewhere (interent, maybe even the library!) and find out what can go wrong, cause if it CAN go wrong, eventually it will.

There is only ONE thing holding me back.... money I don't have any and I don't know what job I could get. I tried a paper route agggggggggggggggggggges ago but it payed shit. $4 per run and the runs took around an hour to do

Maybe you should wait until you have gotten a bit older, then you will have money. I know that may be hard to do, but I waited for three years so I could start pyro stuff.

Since you don't want to use any more money than you have to, go here (http://krimzonpyro.com/ep/projectsdevicesdir/homemadefuseignition.html), and use the last fuse option. The ones with match heads. They aren't the most reliable so make a few and set them off simultaneously(sp?).
