Easiest?
I've never made an explosive before. I have had probably the most boring summer ever. Me and my friends are looking to have some fun this summer and am getting some cash. So I need to know, what's the easiest explosive to make. Not a toilet bowl cleaner bomb.
I find cobs to be very simple to make, except I can't find any blackpowder around where I live. (No it's not really Beverly Hills) I could make it, sure, but I don't know if the recipes on Ka-FUCKING BOOM are good or not seeing as how I've never made any explosives before. So, a short recipe of blackpowder would be great.
And, I can't find any fuse around here. By now with no fuse or blackpowder you can probably guess I live in a small town. Don't know if those recipes are any good or not. Any recipes for that?
I'm pretty sure I know how to make a timer. But I would have to make alot and get a drill, find a small funnel, for a cob which I don't have. I've tried to make a funnel and don't know if I could drill a bigger hole in it or not.
So, with all that being said, does anyone know any other easy explosives that I could make? It'd be great.

Re: Easiest?
75% KNO3 (potassium nitrate), 15% charcoal, and 5% sulfur is the standard mix for black powder. I can't find any fuses either, so good luck with that.

Re: Easiest?
grvdigr69, thank you so much for the correct blackpowder recipe. But where could I get that shit. Potassium nitrate? sulfur? I don't know where to get that. And what do I tell them if the clerks know what I'm buying? It's for a school science project or something, but it's summer. Thanks for the help.

You can usually buy shit by the pound at most farms, but if not im sure porta pottys have plenty.
Potassium nitrate can be bought as stump remover at Wal Mart, or bought in small 4 ounce bottles a a few pharmacies.
Sulfer can also be bought at Wal Mart as dusting sulfer. Look around, im sure you will find some.

Re: Easiest?
Lmao about shit. Thanks guys! So will they sell Potassium nitrate at pharmacys to a 15 year old? and I've never seen this shit- oh I mean stuff. I guess I just take some of everything and mix it in. 15 percent here, 10 percent here. Right?

Re: Easiest?
Almost right.
It's 75% KNO3(a.k.a Potassium nitrate),10% sulfur,and 15% charcaol. They must be measured by weight!

Re: Easiest?
Shit man, does it really matter exactly? How do I know, I don't have a scale that's approximately. Would I have to buy one? Where would I buy one at?

Ok, a lot of common questions are answered here:

This website is your friend:

And "ka fucking boom" is mostly crap, don't read it, don't try it.

Re: Easiest?
Oh my god! I seen some of those pictures on your site! Are those real? There so gory! The head one! Where did you get that picture? It's hard to believe that someone who got they're head blown off would have relatives or whoever to allow someone to put that on the internet. Is it real? That just might change my mind about some of the ideas I have!

Re: Easiest?
Those pictures are not on my site, I just linked to them... I can't say this with any proof, but I think they are real. Even if they weren't the exact same things could happen to you in real life.

Re: Easiest?
Yea, but let's say if I had made an electric timer, then hooked up to a solar fuse and stuck it into a salute, then set it, and went away. That'd be safe, no?

Yes, there are safe ways to set off pyrotechnics and detonate explosives. Pictures like those are just precautions of what COULD result from carelessness, or a freak accident.
Remember, MOST pyrotechnics or explosives related injuries are a result of doing something stupid. For instance, what the fuck was that kid doing putting an explosive in his mouth in the first place?
It's like this. A lot of people blow their heads and/or limbs off with firearms every year. Does that mean it's completely unsafe to own a firearm? No, because 99.9999% of the time those people were doing something incredibly stupid. Now with pyrotechnics and explosives, a freak accident could occur and something could be ignited prematurely, which might injure you. But then again something might accidentally trip the hammer on a shotgun when you're holding it.
In general, 1) Don't do anything stupid, and 2) Don't do anything dangerous unless you're SURE you know EXACTLY what you're doing and you are aware of the potential consequences.
Following those rules, I have never been injured or arrested due to experimenting with pyrotechnics and explosives.

Re: Easiest?
Shew! You restored my confidence. But still, I would like to do it the safest way and I think a safe way would be to set an electric detonator to the explosive. But to most, I need a solar fuse. Where can I find these? Radio shack? Maby in a rocket engine model kit or something? Thanks, and I will try and make a safe electronic detonator.

Re: Easiest?
1 Month ago I was just like you Lego, except I did not know about totse.
All I did was do my research on the net... mainly google seraching, and eventually gathered up enough information to start making salutes/flash powder/etc..
My advice, if your just starting off... read everything and look at everything at krimzonpyro.com (http://krimzonpyro.com) , thats what I did, and now I know alot (and I mean ALoT) more then I knew before (obviously).
Just do your homework, and don't be afraid to ask questions here, with that said... good luck, and keep safe!
P.S. You can order chemicals and tubes and fuse and other stuff online. Good sites are pyrostuff.com (http://pyrostuff.com) , pyrohobby.com (http://pyrohobby.com) , cannonfuse.com (http://cannonfuse.com) , unitednuclear.com (http://unitednuclear.com) , pyrotech.org (http://pyrotech.org) and oldwillknott.com/ (http://oldwillknott.com/) (for scales).
Hope that helps out!
