"Cellulose hexanitrate"
I am confused...Is cellulose hexanitrate both the coloxylin and the pyroxylin form of nitrocellulose, instead of just pyroxylin? Isnt the pyroxylin monomer formed when less than all of the hydroxyl groups are esterified? Then, how would cellulose hexanitrate come to be if there are no longer any OH groups? I am so stupid...is cellulose hexanitrate supposed to be a powder from the polysaccharides forming crystals, or still the fibrous form? Thanks for helping my headache with this problem.

Re: "Cellulose hexanitrate"
I don't think whether it is in fibrous or crystalline form has much to do with the latin. I haven't made NC before, though. I get a constant, free supply of it out of the coffee tin full of misfired bullets at the local shooting range.

I think you tryed to use more big words than you fully understand...
Its simple its still cellulose not smaller sugars, however six positions per unit have been nitrated...
