Dry Ice Gun DIagram Needed
Im posting this because i was reading an article posted by The Voice Over and had a wee bit of trouble with his ascii diagram im looking for a nicly drawn, scanned, or better ascii diagram to help me better understand how this gun should be built. If you have such diagrams, please email me the specs, and if you have questions about something i may even be able to help you. Thank you.

Re: Dry Ice Gun DIagram Needed
i would get a large dia. tube and put a endcap on it then use a bell reducer and then ruduce it to the point were you can attach a quick release valve then make some sort of barrel then add your dry ice to the buttom and a little water attach psi valve so you can watch the psi increase then when it hits a certain point move open the valve .. and watch the spud fly .. or what ever ammo you have jammed the barrel

Re: Dry Ice Gun DIagram Needed
Okay lemmi try this again . . . i meant a picture, a blueprint, a diagram, something that SHOWS me how it should work so i could better understand its opperation. ascii diagrams dont quite cut it . . . and picture or visual would be greatly appreciated.
Also, i need to know where i could get any of these: dry ice or liquid co2 and dry ice machine.

Re: Dry Ice Gun DIagram Needed
But doesnt dry ice evaporate too slow to give it much power? Even with water it would be hard for me to see it as an effective fuel in spud guns. I may be wrong though.

If you let the pressure build up for a while before releasing it it should work. Im not sure though.

Re: Dry Ice Gun DIagram Needed
Yeah, but unless there was something to hold the ammo down the ammo, it would just slowly slide out of the barrel. Maybe stuffing some tissue paper down the barrel would help.

Re: Dry Ice Gun DIagram Needed
okay,
1) you load your ammo when your ready to fire
2) have you ever considered boiling water with the dry ice
3) have you ever considered heating the gun with a small fire
4) have you ever considered lowering the gun into boiling water
5) have you ever considered painting the primary expansion chamber black and letting it sit in the sun
6) a few peices of dry ice in a 2 liter bottle with warm water produces a very powerful blast, do not doubt the power of subimination.

Re: Dry Ice Gun DIagram Needed
Ok.
Personally I think that would be too much trouble with a simple spud gun, not to mention there are much cheaper, more powerful fuels such as propane (with room for oxygen).

Re: Dry Ice Gun DIagram Needed
note the use of a psi gauge (for measuring the pressure in the chamber)
note the use of a valve between the chamber and the barrel ... once the pressure of the co2 stops rising (when all the dry ice is gone) or the chamber is going to blow (reaching it's max psi rating) then you open the valve allowing the pressure to flow through and moving you item IE. Spud

Re: Dry Ice Gun DIagram Needed
I think the idea of useing dry ice as a propellent was to create a pressure device (coke bottle) and shove this in the chamber. That way when the bottle burst the gasses are relised all at once. I assume, if that works you could do this with any pressure device (acid, metal).

Re: Dry Ice Gun DIagram Needed
you know what i just thought of using iron or steel instead of copper (this fixxes the preasure overload problem)altho it does make the gun heacier you dont have to worry about preasure aymore
also . . . WHO SAID I WAS GONNA LAUNCH POTATOES! i DO have a potato gun and it works just fine, but i certainly dont plan on launchind peices of potato that are the size of a "AA" battery. peices of lead (pressed to form), ball bearings, wodden dows, formed ice, "AA" batteries, firecrackers, ect.
again without the preassure overload problemof copper you can build anny enourmouse ammount of preasure you want . . .are you beginning to grasp the enchelada?
