What to do if the fuzz comes a-knockin'
On prompting from Rat_Bastard, here's my old post on what the cops on a low-level raid of your house, especially if acting on an anonymous crimestoppers tip.
---
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE COPS WHEN SERVING A CRIMESTOPPERS TIP
In chronological order, what will happen:
1. A pair of plainclothes cops will show up in an unmarked patrol car. Both will come armed.
2. They will bring (I forget the name), but it is a slip of paper that acts as a warrant you can sign yourself. THE ADVANTAGE OF THIS IS that if you fill it out, they will probably only search your room (if you're a juvenile, they will most likely search your whole house if over 18 or living by yourself) and perform a simple check through the Find command on your computer for the words "bomb", "pyro", "Anarchists Cookbook", "Terrorists Handbook", and assorted other obvious words.
IF YOU REFUSE AND MAKE THEM GO GET A WARRANT they will come with a large group of cops (5 or more) and perform a thorough search of your house.
Places they will search:
Under your bed/mattress/sheets
In your closet
In your air ducts
All items of furniture (chairs, file cabinets, dressers, etc)
Questions they will ask:
"Do you know why we're here?"
"Do you know why we are searching for explosive devices in your home?"
"Do you take apart fireworks?"
"Do you like fireworks?"
"Do you burn things?"
..and other questions. use your common sense and say no, people.
Answer no to all questions that might mark you as a pyro of any sort, or that you might have ANY knowledge of advanced chemistry, or that you know how to make explosives. Do not be sarcastic in anything you say. Answer "Yes sir" or "No sir" to all their questions. You CAN, however, tell them that you like fireworks and/or model rocketry.
ABOVE ALL, DO NOT MAKE COMMENTS THAT THEY MIGHT THINK ARE THREATENING. My dumb-as-shit brother said "they think he's going to blow up the school!" and laughed. they took this very seriously and asked my parents all sorts of questions about me. While they were at my door, I was busy as fuck upstairs moving papers, diagrams, chemicals, etc. to my brother's room, where I took his drawers out and taped them to the back and stuck them back in. they made a quick check of his room(looked in the drawers, under the bed, etc-- i was nervous as hell when they looked in the drawers, my heart was going like crazy but they naver looked on the back so they never found them.)
while they were in my room one of the cops found a bag of brass filings from a key making stand, he asked "what are these" and i told him "brass filings". he said "these are very dangerous, if you mix them with water they'll catch on fire and explode." I thought "what a dumbass" and told him "no, brass doesn't do that, you're thinking of Sodium or Potassium." He became very suspicious at this and held a whispered conversation with his partner, and decided to confiscate the filings.
The worst they got on me was a diagram on making a Molotov cocktail with H2SO4, gasoline, and sucrose.
They gave me a good talking-to on THE DANGERS OF EXPLOSIVES in which I could tell they knew jack shit about pyrotechnics of any kind.
To avoid being searched:
Never talk any people who are not your CLOSEST FRIENDS about pyrotechnics. Do not talk about it at school. Do not talk about it with neighbors. Do not talk about it at all except in a private place.

Wow, luckly my town is too small for that to happen without me knowing everyone whos raiding, and that is a good idea, taping the stuff to the back of your dresser drawer,And that brass ball thing, LMAO so hard!
But the raid sucked.
P.S. Somone should make a text file on how to hide your explosives in a low level raid.

meh my drive was just completly taken out of my computer and taking to K divison (head quarters) to the tech lab and they searched the drive for the words "hydro" "Aluminum" "Acid" "Chloric"
and they found some of the words in some text docs ....
but never did find anything on pressure bombs but what can i say lol
they searched my room an stole a couple of jars with nothing in them and a little bit of black powder and some other chems but most of my main chems were in my shed which is my "Lab" .....
and my "explosives" are kept in specialy made iron casings with speical one way high velocity pressure vents
they are used for transportation of very high inpulse rocket engines

Re: What to do if the fuzz comes a-knockin'
There used to be a cop that lived across the street with me who loved this stuff as much as I did, and he used to buy stuff from me all the time. He moved about a year ago, but he still likes buying stuff on the mayjor holidays.
I have a good friend whos dad is a retired cop. He also loves this stuff and will buy from me twice a year, and since I hook him up with the fireworks he will occasionally give me free 9mm and .22 ammo.
For anyone, selling illegal explosives is one of the worst ideas anyone could ever come up with, and selling them and getting cuaght will get you in more trouble than even making them. I rarely sell anything illegal but sometimes I will sell M-80s, but nothing with more than 3 grams of powder. I trust these people and I know they are very responsible and know how to handle them, unlike 95 percent of all people in the world.

If it's something you REALLY don't want the piggies to see(that would send you to jail if they saw it) you could stuff it behind the insulation on the walls in the attic.

Re: What to do if the fuzz comes a-knockin'
my dressers i made in shop class and behind the drawer is a compartment ...
pull the drawers out press it in and then it flops down on hinges it's about 6-7 inchs in and about 3 feet wide lol and i have three drawers in it so it's a descent hiding place ... but thats not really for pyrotechnics "thats just the bottom drawyer" the top two are pot related but nobody needs to know that

Re: What to do if the fuzz comes a-knockin'
Actually, I have a Foot Locker that has a removable bottom, and I made a bunch of shoe boxes just by trimming down the lid a little... so all my papers go there. ALSO I have a small concrete shack out in the woods 6x6 feet. I have a few moderate felled treest on top of it so it is inconspicuos.

Re: What to do if the fuzz comes a-knockin'
I keep my stuff in a couple of ex-army .50 Cal ammo tins- Does the job for the small amount of stuff i have. I think they are completly water tight (May be able to throw them into a swimming pool without water getting in). They could be hidden almost anywhere, maybe keep them in the celling or something. I dont need to hide mine though- nobody in my house asks questions about them.

Re: What to do if the fuzz comes a-knockin'
I think the best place to keep chemicals and devices is at friends houses, and it is best if it is someone who is low profile. I have my stuff at a friends house who I rarely hang out with. If you are known to be good friends with someone, the cops will most likely search their house too, so that is why it is best to have it at someones house where noone knows about it but you and him.

Re: What to do if the fuzz comes a-knockin'
I found that document really informative, i think it should be archived. What im planning on doing is building a little underground box in the back yard that i can store everything in. I dont like it in the house in case of police, and fire. i dont think the insurance would cover that. Anyway id probably build the box in corner with a simple lid, about 1foot,1foot with a black garbage bag inside so i can putt all the goodies in the bag and fold it over afew times to protect from water, which would be a major problem

your array will die sometime unless its raid 5 and formatting is not the same as zeroing a drive

I know that it'll eventually die, but it's RAID 1, with a hot swap drive even. Okay, so what's zeroing?

Hmmm, i should prolly also look for a hidding place, that'll have to be a pretty big place though. Can they really take your Chems. if you've gotten them all leagally? Also, u think it's worth arguing with them if your pretty sure that you know more about law and the Constitution then they do? hmmm.
Thanks 4 input.

Re: What to do if the fuzz comes a-knockin'
Little computer lesson here (May be help to someone).
When you 'delete' something, it is not really gone. Even if you empty it from the recycle bin, or bypass it altogether. What that 'deleting' does, is marks that space as available for the system to use. If a file uses that space, it overwrites, and then that file is 'gone'.
Zeroing a drive is basically writing every sector over with 0s. Generally many times, to ensure that no one that isn't very advanced in computers will find anything.

I have an old gateway computer tower which I have stripped of all internals, except the power supply and mother board. The thing is one of the fullsize towers appro 9"x18"x3'. If anyone asks the thing "won't boot up" i just keep anything i want hidden in there....not grerat for explosives but for papers and other things

Re: What to do if the fuzz comes a-knockin'
I keep my pyro stuff well hidden -- outside, in our garden shed, in an airtight container stuck into a 55-pound bag of potting soil. I don't go through quite as much trouble hiding my weed, although I probably should rethink that, as I've now got enough to send me to jail (and it's good shit, too! ).
The scariest encounter I've ever had with the coppers didn't actually involve me. A guy stole an RV, drove it down my driveway (a 1/2 mile dirt road), ditched it in the woods, and ran off into a ravine. The cops were hot on his heels -- they thought he was hiding in our house, and wanted to do a thorough search. Luckily, my dad convinced them not to. They never did find the guy, either, even after spending 8 hours in my yard.
