This is no doubt probably the four thousanth post on potassium nitrate.

I jus have one question.

Where can i buy it in a pure or almost pure form? It seems like its quite hard to get..

We really need an ample supply of it because we have plans on building multiple large smoke devices..

Purifying stump remover is a good source from it, or fertilizer. As for pure, pharmacies SOMETIMES carry it, but you should probably have a nice little excuse ready. Or, you could always buy it online.

www.pyrostuff.com

They sell it at a pretty fair price, with no questions asked... and it only takes like a week for shipping.

You can also check out UN, unitednucleor.com (sp might be off).

Oh get some stump remover and purify the nitrate yourself, if you know what your doing.

Sometimes you can find stump remover that you don't need to purify.

Get Grants stump remover and ball mill it. Its pretty close to pure, close enough for smokers anyway. I remember people saying its 98% pure.

At the site, if you buy at least 25 bags, you only pay 15 bucks each. meaning you could buy 1250 pounds of saltpetre for only 375 bucks. that would smoke up like your whole town!!! Kick Ass!!

You'll get minor clumping almost always with fine KNO3, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Gordon's Stump Remover is 99% Potassium Nitrate and 1% Calcium Stearate as you can see from its MSDS here. (http://www.pbigordon.com/consumer_products_msds/stump_remover_msds.pdf) Go here (http://www.pbigordon.com/consumer_products_dealers/index.htm) to find a dealer.

Most Stump Remover comes in prills that you'll need to deal with. EP's website has good information on the subject here. (http://krimzonpyro.com/ep/projectsdevicesdir/kno3.html)

And saltpeter is spelled p-e-t-e-r.

BTW the KNO3 I got from pyrohobby was in grains about the size of sugar. I just ran it in my ball mill for 12 hours and it is extremely fine.

I still havent recieved my aluminum yet.
