Ok the ball mill construction is not what i came to ask about... infact im going to ask Is it possible to make BP with out sulfur? im sure it'd slow down the burn speed but im just making shitty salutes so i don't need fast burning shit because i'd make flash instead

If you used just charcoal and KNO3. 75 KNO3 and 25 charcoal. Or you could make H3, which is 75 potassium chlorate and 25 charcoal. But if you do this DO NOT ball mill H3. It is impact and frictions sensative. And by all means DO NOT introduce sulphur to this mixture. It becomes a lot more sensative.

Yes. I am sure that is the best ratio. If not just experiment with it.

UPDATE: I have fallen tired and will have to finish the ball mill when i awake tomarrow some time(lol). The ball mill is almost finished. I just need to join my other rotation rod to the main connection so i can have a spinning action. Only one thing i am worried about is my connection from the motor to the first rod. Im not sure if the rubber connection is going to withstand the heat by the friction. Tomarrow i will turn it on and leave it on for a set period of time when its complete and i will watch it. Hopfully it doesn't create enough friction to fuck up my rubber belt.

Sulfurless BP will burn much faster then regular BP, but produce less gass.

Then that'd make it even better for salutes correct? or would it not because it'd produce less pressure?

You are correct... without the gas, there would not be sufficient gas to make a loud noise... But, it would still explode. The key to a salute is to have a fast burning powder, that creates a huge amount of gas in that short time.

Because im a n00b im going in order of shit you should try. Started out with kno3 and sugar mixes. Now im going to try BP in my homemade ball mill. Who knows... one day i may make flash lol

Straight BP is probably best for salutes, but sulfurless should work with proper confinement.

I had some problems keeping the belt on the ball mill but i think i have fixed the problem. Right now i am milling and i guess its not a speedy thing to do lol

Technically flash powder is easier to make then BP, but its alot more dangerous... as you already know.

Im starting off with the KNO3 and sugar composition first, then going onto flash, then bp. Then I want to get into making cakes and repeaters and motors.

Im going for BP then flash because as we both know and you stated BP is a shitload safer.
