Hey, I was just on ebay, and there's some guy selling 5 lb lots of Mg plate for $50. That's a better deal than buying the little fire starters for $5 a piece...

Re: Mg plate metal on ebay
If those little firestartes weigh less than half a pound each,
$50/5lbs = $10 per pound

Firestarters without a flint weigh between 30-45 grams each, depending on the brand. Now you all really know how bad you are getting ripped off.

Re: Mg plate metal on ebay
Sure the Mg plates on ebay are cheaper but are they going to be as easy to grind up as those firestarter bricks. I got a friend who works at a bike shop to give me two nice pieces of magnesium. It's good stuff but unless you have a small grinder or a metal grinder of some sort it's a pain in the ass to grind into a granular which can be ball milled.
