How do you seal off your cobs?
I made my first two last night, and sealed them with some kind of metal glue. It worked, but it was kind of a pain in the ass. What do you guys use?

Re: How do you seal off your cobs?
As long as you don't make the hole too big and you use a semi fast burning powder you don't really have to seal them with anything. My friend once made one with nitrocellulose and about a 1/8" inch fuse hole and it worked perfectly.
I usually just use tape to secure the fuse, and if you're using flash, BP, pyrodex, nitrocellulose, etc that should be fine, but if you just want seal them off or you're using sparkaler powder, match powder, or something like that try using epoxy cement, that usually works well.

Re: How do you seal off your cobs?
I set off one without any sealant (I'm using BP) and it worked fine, I know I don't need to seal it... but I want to. It keeps and powder from leaking out, and it keeps water out if I want to set it off under water, and it just makes look more professional.

Re: How do you seal off your cobs?
I either use epoxy putty, or plain old clay... (not playdo, modeling clay)

This might sound a little weird but I use fingernail polish. It works.

Why do some people seem to avoid cobs? Is there a problem with them?

Re: How do you seal off your cobs?
The shrapnel thrown from them has plenty of energy and penitration to kill a six foot man at 50 feet. It can also do serious property damage, so most people prefer paper tubes for a reason.
Hmm, im six feet one inches tall, so I wonder how far away it could kill me. jk.

Re: How do you seal off your cobs?
I wrap paper around the fuse, then force this into the hole. COBs don't really need any sealing, even if you're using bp. I do it simply to keep the fuse from falling in/out.

I usually don't seal them...Only if I'm setting it off underwater, then I use silicone gel.

Re: How do you seal off your cobs?
Hot glue would work, just sand down the top of the co2 cartridge (so the hot glue will stick better) before putting in the fuse or bp.
