pressure bombs, rockets?
i as sit outside my window i think oh great another dud i then think about how these bottles are under such great pressure that if i were to set it in the road and say hit the bottom of the bottle with a nail what would it do would it just spew all the gasses out and make a big freaking mess or would all the pressure quickly escape the tiny hole and rocket off. i wonder this is it possible to make these bottles become rockets by punctureing a small hole or a shot with a bb gun?

they'd become rockets.. when i'm poor and have nothing better to do i put a bit of water a pop bottle and fill it with compressed air. After i do that i release the bottle and it shoots off. Its a cheap thrill

Re: pressure bombs, rockets?
When you put dry ice in water in a soda bottle and lets say it doesnt pop (sometimes happens) and I shoot it with my bb gun the dont become rockes they EXPLODE! its really loud and you dont want to be anywhere near it when it explodes they dont become rockets. There is so much gas in the bottle and when a bb sized hole is made ALL the gass wants OUT so it squeezes through that little hole except REALLY fast and rips the bottle and explodes it doent just come out of the litle hole .now a hole in the cap and the cap taped on real good then yea it would prolly work. The plastic of the bottle is much thinner than the cap and holds up to much less.

Re: pressure bombs, rockets?
Actually, the first day when i got my HCl, we made rockets. We'd do the acid/al in a glass bottle, put a ballon over it, let it fill up till it almost bursts, then take a 2 liter plastic bottle which was compressed, put the ballon over the bottle, pushed the gasses in, take the baloon off, and light the bottle. They'd make a whooosh sound and shoot off. I also made a stand to do these upright and no ballon, but they'd shoot up just like 10 feet or so.

Re: pressure bombs, rockets?
Once I was making a HCl/Al one down near the river when I accidently poured some acid into a small cut. In a painful rage a kicked the bottle which fell into the river and seemed to sink to the bottom. Thinking it a waste of time, I turned around to leave when the thing shot out of the water like a bullet and missed my head by about a metre.. it actually cracked a tree that it smashed into.
