ah.. this won't explode on me, will it?
I'll cut right to the point, building a model car at school, I want to put a HCl/Aluminium pressure bomb on the back.
This isn't a bomb though, it wil have an exhaust nozzle for all the hydrogen gas to come out the back, where it is ignited by a butane torch.
I realise there will probably be some O2 in the mixing chamber, and I'm just a little worried about the chance of the butane flame travelling into back into the Hydrochoric/Aluminium mixing compartment and exploding, showering everyone at my school in acid....
Your thoughts?
(I realise this will be an inefficient and pretty weak for of power, but I am coupling it with electrical power, and I just wanted to do something a little flashy)

Re: ah.. this won't explode on me, will it?
There are two things I can think of.
One is to use caustic soda instead of HCl. Two is to wrap lots and lots of duct tape around the bottle and cap. It won't assure you safety 100%, but it will make it alittle safer.
Is this a class experiment?

Thanks Static^^
Keep in mind this is a lot larger than most pressure bombs, and its not in the regular bottle-shape.
(I'm using about half a litre of HCl in the reaction as well)
