Is the more expensive fuse on cannonfuse.com much better than the cheap stuff?
It's obviously thicker, and it says it's more waterproof (well, actually it only implies that, it doesn't even say it), but is it really worth the extra money?

if it's wax coated then it's worth the extra money the companies most likely order it from the same place.

The nitrocellouse coating always seems to light before the meal powder core does, and becuase of its wider diameter, a larger fuse hole is needed, so with slower burning explosives gases may escape before bursting the container, but if you are using BP or flash this will be no problem.

What explosive is slower than BP? I'm genuinely curious.

Smoke composition is slower than BP, and it's a (say it with me, now) low explosive.

IMHO, their 1/8 fuse is great fuse. It burns fully submerged in water (this stuff is IMPOSSIBLE to put out), plus a bunch of other nifty stuff .
Be careful when you light it though, have the end of the fuse pointing nowhere near your hand. Ive been burned a few times by the fuse, and it hurts.

I say the 1/16th inch fuse is ideal for general purpose. But if your doing underwater charges I suggest you use the 1/8th inch fuse.
Oh yea to avoid the sparks of the fuse buring your hand just use your index finger to turn the lighter. I know my first time lighting 1/8th inch fuse I had the same problem.

Re: Is the more expensive fuse on cannonfuse.com much better than the cheap stuff?
Speaking of fuse, im almost out. I will either have to find a supply of christmas lights, or order more fuse. I only have like 2-3 feet of the 1/8 left. i had a bunch of 1/16, which i also liked. I gave a bunch to my friend though. maybe he will repay me im whistle powder, he has a great source for it, and he doesnt fully comprehend the uses of it .

Re: Is the more expensive fuse on cannonfuse.com much better than the cheap stuff?
Their three inch pre cut is also nice, and it always burns underwater and is cheaper than the 1/8. The only problem is you have to tape the fuses together if you want any more than three inches of fuse on your device.
The 1/16 inch fuse is perfect for small salutes (1 gram or less) and for slow burning explosives like KNO3/sugar, if you that desperate for an explosion.

i sold 5 feet of the 1/8 to some kid for $15
i bought 100 feet of both. i use the 1/8 for underwater shit and for bigger things.
