Default 3 kids in my town (I know a few) arrested

3 kids who just graduated my highschool earlier in June were arrested for assorted charges such as the manufacture of an illegal explosive device, conspiracy to build or use an illegal explosive device, etc. Police are expecting more arrests. This is the major break in a big investigation over the past 2 months or so, because a bunch of mailboxes were blown up. They were homemade devices. There was one device that didn't explode, it was on someone's driveway, and the guy picked it up. If it did explode, then the kids could've been in even deeper shit than they are in now. One kid I sorta know was planning on going some airforce acedemy. Another was my "big brother" for school, he basically showed me around before my freshman year. He was also a columnist for the local paper, wrote the highschool prospective thingy. Basically, all the kids who are caught in this mess are gonna be fucked royally.

I just thought I'd let you in on this little bit of news around my town.

Here's an article about the mailbox bombs if you want to read them.

Edit: Got rid of the bad links, couldn't fix them.

Maybe they were getting back at all the assholes in their highschool? I never knew a COB could mess up a mailbox. Hrmmm I guess they are royally fucked now, that really sucks that they would mess up their future like that. If it was just pointless destruction then they should get in more trouble, but if they had a good reason if there is such a thing, then maybe they should get off easier. They definetly should not have to go to jail and get raped by big-bubba... I think some community service would be good for these individuals, and teach them what is up. They just made a really stupid mistake IMHO.

Jesus Christ they should at least have come up with a little more discreet way of getting back at someone if that was their motive. Basically there dumbasses that make it harder for everyone else to practice this hobby legitimately.

The links to the first two articles don't work. The third one appears to be another article written by an ignorant media person who doesn't know anything about explosives.

"The mailbox device detonated May 30 was built from a small explosive, similar to banned flash-powder fireworks, police said."

LEs like black powder and flash powder don't detonate.

Anyway, these people were fucking morons. If they had been busted for just experimenting in a way that wasn't destructive to anyone else or their property, I might feel bad for them but in this case, I don't. They destroyed someone else's property. I mean how would you like it if some dickhead just one day got the bright idea to blow up your mailbox?

And even if it was valid revenge, it was still stupid. I never, EVER extract pyrotechnic revenge that could potentially carry any serious legal consequences. If I wanted to get back at someone for something, there are much more effective ways than blowing up their mailbox. I mean you destroyed their mailbox, holy shit you win the prize! Now they have to go all the way to Home Depot and buy a new one for $10.00. What a badass you are.

I don't think they deserve felony charges though, because they weren't actually trying to hurt or kill anyone. If it were up to me I would say that they have to pay the people back personally for their mailboxes and apologize to them, do a week of community service, write a report on community leadership and be banned from ever using fireworks.

My favorite quote from that article has to be, "Police said they do not believe the bombs are related to mailbox explosions in East Windsor. Those homemade bombs were chemical-based."

I suppose that the KNO3, sulfur, and charcoal(carbon) in black powder aren't chemicals.

Lol I know right. The media is usually inaccurate, and basically once anyone hears the word 'bomb' they get all excited.

I never knew there was also a Glastonbury, Montana... I only knew of Glastonbury, Connecticut and the old Glastonbury in England.

But we all know that I really live in the mystical land know as Narnia, where I drink tea all day with Mr. Tumnus...

Anything that makes remotely any sound above a gunshot, made with anything is considered a bomb by the media.

The cartoon version of "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" is soo sweet, but didn't Mr. Tumnus's house get ransacked and his horns cut off?

I especially like his cameo in Family Guy...

Mr. Tumnus: "Hello, welcome to Narnia, I'm

Mr. Tumnus."

Peter: "Gimme back my sock, ya goat bastard"

Actually I think if you design the bomb casing right, the pressure of subsonic gasses can build up to supersonic speeds as the case explodes, thus a detonation. Not sure though.

Why do people insist on attacking mailboxes when it's federal property and a lot more trouble can occur?
