It is the 4th of July. I alomst got nailed. First charge I lit off was a massive 50 grams charge of dynamite containing nitroglycerin+potassium nitrate+dexterin, it was buried 2 feet deep, and detonated with 2 grams of AP. Results was a enormous shockwave, a very loud boom, so loud it set off car alarms 2 blocks away, dirt sparyed everywhere.

Followed by that an M-80 and another one. Then I saw a flashlight I went in that direaction some man talking I though Oh shit its a cop I'm fucked. But then it was my neighbor. I explanined to him it was those kids on the other side of the block who was setting those things off. I said I was sitting in front of the computer and heard a loud explosion that scared me shitless, then I went outside to check then I was shocked by another 2 explosion.

They said smoething like next time I'm calling the police. I went back inside then back outside then was confronted with more neighbors, I told them the same thing.

But I'm really afraid now, I'm packing up everything and moving it to my shelter. I'm ready to quit due to that close call. For that reason I want to quit.

Any advice?

We've all had our close calls, and of course they have scared of shitless... It's no reason to quit. At least now you know not to do a 50 gram charge in your backyard

i can understand quitting however do what i do. lay low for a few months then find a new site to set stuff off.

If that makes you want to quit then your in the wrong hobby (no offence). If I did that I wouldn't give a shit of what my neighborus thought I would be so happy that my device worked and made a shockwave that big. I would just say it wasn't me.

Don't quit. Just find a new place for firing, maybe even a diferent place every time. There's gotta be greenspace or something near where you live.

One of my neighbors has a bird-scarer that shoots flash charges (a little louder than M-80's) out of either a .75 cal flare pistol or 12 gauge shotgun, I'm not sure which...but they're loud as hell, and go off about 100 feet in the air.

Well, find a new place to do your blasts. Either that or lay low for a month or more. If you really want to quit, you can, it's your choice in the end.

I would just quit HEs if you are going to quit anything. They will get you in more trouble than any low explosive. Like they said just drive around and find a spot to light something. Do not make it too big, since the area might get searched, and fingerprints, fibers (hair or clothing) can easily be tracked to anyone. The chemicals and materials the tube were made of can still be tracked to you. Im not trying to scare anyone, but there are many ways to get cuaght, but as long as you arent throwing sticks of dynamite out the window, noone would worry too much.

I guess your right you guys I shoulden't quit. I may just lay low for a month or two not set off anything and start again with much less powerful charges. I guess I will quit with those HE's. Guess I'm using my entire stockpile of HNO3 on nitrocellulose then.But still have large amount of chems and glassware I'll find some way to dispose or store for a long time. I think I'm also about to quit with those M-80's since they are very loud, and nobody around here bothers to set them off.If they are heard neighbors will call the police. What I am doing new would be rockets I haven't really tested much on them, small salutes filled with chemicals less powerful and less loud, perhaps blackpowder.Maybe color flashes, and stars with nice colors.

I'd say don't quit...how can you stop something so fun and enjoyable? Plus I'd bet about a month after you stopped you'll be craving it again and want to get right back to where you started. I'm lucky enough to live on a farm with about 35 acres around me and neighbors who wouldn't give a shizzle what was blowing up around them, they're nice folk, haha...so it's hard to imagine trying to be so secretive about everything. Whatever your decision, make sure you're happy with it. And like everyone else said, lay low like snoop dog for a while and things should be cool...in that time you could catch up on some research, build some crazy sweet rocket, bomb, whatever, and while you're at it throw some stuff in the mill since some things take that long and waiting is a biotch sometimes. Alrighty, I've talked enough...so decide for yourself, and whatever you choose you can always go back.

sometimes i feel like i should quit, but not really for the same reasons as you, i want to quit because of my lack of access to chemicals here in calgary. But then I think, well, I can just keep trying. So I do, and I read and read and read and read on this forum. But Im still not good with all the chemical names. But im trying.

YEAH dont quit Star its so hard to find good people who actually know what there doing (No offence to anyone else) and are as experienced as you are.

You think that was close? I had the pigs in my room looking for explosives and explosives designs... they looked in my drawers but MISSED THE DESIGNS AND BAGS OF CHEMICALS TAPED TO THE UNDERSIDES OF THE DRAWERS.

I live out in the boonies, too, so i could set off just about anything and not worry about anyone getting mad(except my mom).

nothing bad. we all had that shit . i detonated 25 grams AP celluloze dynamite and it made a hell of a BOOM , but it didn't make a large crater , some 50 cm3 ... i have good neighbours, they were angry but they didn't say anything . i was lucky. i had shit making kno3 sugar smoke bomb in my kitchen , i overheated it and you know what then happened... my whole house was full of stinkin smoke. i opened all of the windows and in 20 minutes it was ok. i had again luck , i was home alone. if you have fun blowing up stuff like all of us here then you know what to do.
