I would love to still be a christian
Sure it's bullshit, but I remember it was nice when someone else pulled the wool over my eyes. And to go to church and enjoy it. They say ignorance is bliss and I am starting to agree. Anyone else miss being deluded?

never was deluded. I went to church and felt nothing. I slept a majority of the time. I never felt the spirit of God or anything like that

Re: I would love to still be a christian
I've been to church about 5 times in my life...a few times with a girlfriend (didn't stay with her that long) and like twice with a friend I had at the time. Man it's been ages. Oh yeah i went like a year ago coz some hottish person asked me to go. Then I got a girlfriend (elsewhere) and I haven't been since. Nor do I plan to.

Re: I would love to still be a christian
I admit that I lost a sense of comfort when I renounced Christianity, but I am glad the veil had been lifted. The Abrahamic religions are insidious, in my opinion. If I were ever to believe in a religion again, it would probably be Hinduism.

Re: I would love to still be a christian
Nope... Don't miss it at all actually.
It sort of gives me a little sick pleasure, when I notice that I do my best to get the most out of this LIFE while most religious people rob themselves of their ego and quietly await DEATH.
(In all honestly, I don't get pleasure from this. It makes me sad. )

Re: I would love to still be a christian
I guess personally I don't know what it feels like to believe in a god of any kind.
I remember back in the day I used to lie to myself that I believed, doing random little 'good' things that I thought would help me get into heaven, mostly because I was scared shitless of going to Hell. I wouldn't say this had as much to do with belief in a god than just plain fear of going to place I didn't want to go.
I've always been extremely skeptical of religion, even way back when I was like 8 or so. I had this friend who used to tell me bible stories and such.. and I just remember thinking: Wait, you actually believe that's true?

Same here. I remember my mom reading me parts of an illustrated bible, that talked about how men were 600 and 900 years old. I never could fully believe that, and it was just little holes like this that eventually stretched out and grew until there was nothing left at all.
I was a little bit late being introduced to all of it... maybe six years old or so... so I could make a somewhat conscious decision whether I believed things or not.
Also, your comment about being afraid of hell reminds me of humanity when we were only children... The Dark Ages come to mind.

That's cool, I have felt the same exact way for about a year now.
