Muslims believe that God revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad and that Muhammad is God's final prophet. The Qur'an and the traditions of Muhammad in the Sunnah are regarded as the fundamental sources of Islam. Muslims do not regard Muhammad as the founder of a new religion but as the restorer of the original monotheistic faith of Adam, Ibrahim and other prophets whose messages had become corrupted over time (or according to some authorities only misinterpreted). Like Judaism and Christianity, Islam is considered an Abrahamic religion.

Today, Muslims may be found throughout the world, particularly in the Middle East, North Africa, Southeast, South and Central Asia, and East Africa. Only about 20 percent of Muslims originate from Arab countries. Islam is the second largest religion in many European countries, such as France, which has the largest Muslim population in Western Europe, and the United Kingdom.

Muslims and Jews are stupid. Why fight each other when their religions are basically just the same story, only told from a different perspective? Can't we all just...Get along...?

Not at all. As a matter of fact, I hope Israel bombs Iran. But it wouldn't be necessary in the first place if those dumb shit heads would just realize that religion is no good reason at all to go to war over.

Argon I would rather argue with you about Refractory Metals and Powdered Metallurgy, only because you are so good with the science stuff... BUT!

Wikipedia.org says this:

1st century AD as a Jewish sect,[5] and shares many religious texts with Judaism, specifically the Hebrew Bible, known to Christians as the Old Testament (see Judeo-Christian). Like Judaism and Islam, Christianity is classified as an Abrahamic religion. The name "Christian" (Greek Χριστιανός Strong's G5546) was first applied to the disciples in Antioch, as recorded in Acts 11:26.[6] The earliest recorded use of the term Christianity (Greek Χριστιανισμό&#962 is by Ignatius of Antioch.[7]

Again, I know Wiki is a public work, but I am positive that Christianity is an Abrahamic religion.

Yes, Christianity has its roots in Judaeism, but its not based on it at all, but merely a transition from Judaeism to Christianity to a completion.

There are very few commonalities between Judaeism and Christianity. The only two I know of are they worship the same God and their Messiah is the same person.

Christianity, if you were to believe Jesus was the real Messiah, destroys Judaeism altogether. Supposing that the Messiah has come and gone, there is no reason for Judaeism to exist.

I think that the wiki editors are thinking about it academically rather than fundamentally. Yea, Jesus was a Jew and a half-descendant of Abraham, but he separated Christianity from Judaeism and they are not of the same fundamentals, practices, teachings, or of the same salvation mechanism.

I say that to say that Christianity is not related to Judaeism as Judaeism is to Islam.

Another fundamental is that Jews identify themselves as either descendants of Abraham (thus we can safely establish that Judaeism is obviously an Abrahamic religion) or proselytes that are made Jews. Christians, however, identify themselves as orphans that have been adopted by God.

Its really too much different about the two religions to say that they are both alike.

Um, the fact that the Jews don't think Jesus was the Messiah is pretty much where them and Christians split.

But as for commonality, they both share the whole Old Testament.

But Christians dont need it.

Also, a transition does not mean foundation. Thats the same as saying Vista is based on 3.1 and its most certainly not.

Without 3.1 there would be no Vista.

Vista may not be based around 3.1 code, but it is certainly based on the concepts started with it.

And Islam is nothing but repackaged Judaeism. Can I call Islam a Judaeic religion like Christianity then?

If you are going to stick with concepts, then 3.1 and Vista are the same thing: operating systems and desktops. So there is not transition based on concept.

Christianity and Judaeism arent the same concepts and they arent derived from the same "source code". Therefore by your definition, they cannot be related.

Up to where they split off - at the New Testament, they are more or less the same.

Islam isn't because it and Judaism split off at the start - almost - of the Old Testament.

Thats not what I meant. I meant that Islam basically plagarized the Koran from the TNK (torah, and other books).

Christianity has very little carryover from the OT. The OT is supposed to be nothing but the Ten Commandments and the rest goes into detail about what the caviats of them are.

Jesus then said "love god and your neighbor", thus shrinking it to two commandments. Thats about as much as I know of that came from the OT besides when NT writers quoted OT sources.

You focus too much on very small details and determine that two different religions have the same roots. Shall I say that a factory automobile service manual came from the same source as the Bible just because it contains the word "is" or has a funny anecdote? Maybe one of the manual's writers were Jewish?

Nice way to show off your ignorance. Christianity loses next to nothing by completely forgetting about the Old Testament. There is not one thing that is spiritually vital in the Old Testament that isnt covered in the New.

It has nothing to do with what Christianity gains from it, it's the fact that the Old Testament is part of the Christian bible and so is a big part of the whole shebang.

You may as well say Christian are stupid--look at how the Protestants and Catholics are killing each other in Ireland.

This will continue as long as people buy into the illusion of separateness. In Ultimate Reality, we are indeed All One; each of us is an individuation of the Divine.

good post.

the old testament of the bible is God's old covenant with man.. His chosen people were Jews, and their prophets foretold of a messiah that would come and bring salvation to mankind. when Jesus came, however, the synagogues had turned into just another way to get church leaders richer, much like the Catholic sect of Christianity. they refused to accept Jesus as their foretold savior, and God's chosen people were the very ones who crucified Him. the new testament starts with Jesus's coming, and Christianity is God's new covenant with man.

oh, and God told Abram that he would have a son, but his wife Sarai was 90, so to fulfill this, he and Sarai decided that he should have a son with one of the maids. if you read this page, judaism 101, they do not mention this first son. i think his name was ishmael, if i'm not mistaken. but when sarai did have a son, his maid and her son were forced to leave, and God changed Abram and Sarai's names to Abraham and Sarah. Anyway, God had promised Abraham that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky and the sand on the beach. the descendants of his maid's son became the muslims, and the descendants of isaac became the jews, which manifested into christianity

This is the most profound state in this enitre thread.

It is the focus people do on the details that cause arguments ans wars.

They all believe in the same God and will have salvation according to their own beliefs. HOORAY SALVATION FOR ALL!!!

The will of Islam

Islamic terrorism is not terrorism at all! This premise might surprise most intellectuals, think tank groups and individuals alike. Islamic terrorism or rather what is perceived as “terrorism” by secular and Non-Muslims is simply the enforcement of radical Islamic theological principles in a literal sense by certain individuals, groups and nation-states. These groups have not home grown these ideas overnight, nor do they consider themselves criminals. They have no political demands or financial demands for ransom money. They are simply following the literal dictates of Allah in the Al' Quraan. They are willing to sacrifice their lives for a cause that they believe is far greater than any worldly pursuit or reward. This is precisely what makes them so dangerous. Some intellectuals have compared the Japanese Kamikaze suicide pilots to the Islamic suicide terrorists. The fundamental difference between these two groups is that the Japanese kamikaze pilots were fighting for Japan, their motherland, while Islamic terrorists are fighting for the Islamic Caliphate and hope to impose the will of Islam on all peoples of the world.

Islamic terrorists, thankfully form a small majority of the world’s Muslims. Those Muslims that don't practice Islamic theology in the literal sense like the terrorists do are considered “moderate”. The issue with these so called “moderate” Muslims is that they don't always condemn the atrocities perpetrated by the Muslim terrorists on the rest of the world’s populace. The rationale behind such “silence” is that these moderates realize deep-down that the “terrorists” are performing the “will” of Allah, and do not wish to be branded as non-believers or Kaafirs. Some “moderates” are on the fence and secretly harbor fundamentalist views shared by their terrorist brethren. Such moderates usually end up as financiers and supporters of terrorist activities.

There is no immediate term solution for the issue of “Islamic Terrorism”. There is no tangible body, party, group or nation to negotiate with. Their demands of “Death” to the Non-Muslim or the conversion of the world to “Islam” (Ummah) is unacceptable. As a result, the world is left with no choice, but to crush these terrorists and their sympathizers at every level possible. If we are to preserve the freedoms that we cherish and have fought so hard for, we have no choice but to destroy Islamic terrorism. To this end, the Indian government must adopt a Zero-Tolerance policy to crush Islamic terrorism. We must invite moderate Muslims in India and the rest of the Sub-Continent to jointly combat this menace, for that is the only way, we can achieve a lasting peace.
