I read that the foundation of his ideas was Christianity, but that he traveled to India and studied Ghandi to devise his "operational manual," so to speak. He was using Ghandi's playbook to advance the ideals that he had developed through his Christian faith.

The reality is that Martin Luther King has been blown way out of proportion posthumously. He was a civil rights leader, congrats to him. Lets have a CIVIL RIGHTS DAY instead, and celebrate EVERYONE who contributed to the movement.
