(Christian) I've heard a theory that he created us as an experiment. He would give a creature created in his image freewill and see how how humanity would unfold. and every so often guide us with an invisible hand to further the experiment to its end. maybe he just wanted to see if people would choose to follow him or stray away from thier creator and he would reward those who followed and punished those who followed the devils way. maybe the devils turning was the whole reason for this, to see who would follow the devils path or his.

not so unbeleivable to me.

Disscus!

If you're Christian, then you believe god is allknowing, so why would he need to do any kind of experiment? He would know the results automatically.

A better theory is that we are God's debris, that God, being allknowing, has only thing he could not possibly know. What would happen if he were to cease to exist. If he didn't exist, could he still percieve anything?

Using this logic, he may have blasted himself into billions of tiny pieces, or humans.

And as we grow, mature and evolve we come closer and closer to establishing ourselves as God, much like a neural network in the brain creates something greather than the sum of its parts.

No, we aren't God's experiment. As Nepthys said, God is all-knowing and has no need for experiments.

Some things vaguely seem like experimentation, such as Lilith being the first woman. Not only did that go horribly wrong, but it was managed poorly by God, too.

Why would an all-powerful, all-seeing, all-knowing being want to create us in the first place?

If anyone is interested, the theory Nephtys is talking about is introduced in this book (http://images.ucomics.com/images/pdfs/sadams/godsdebris.pdf) available for free on the internet (apparently, no one wanted to publish it).

Its very short, I was able to finish it in a few hours. While I don't agree with all the stuff, it is a nice read.

Our moon is actually an alien base and for some reason (possibly for experimentation and observance) we are here because of them. Stop calling the aliens "God" please. Thank you.

Ok, so we've established that god doesn't need to set up an experiment, because he already knows what the result would be.

So maybe we're just in his mind? This is all just him imagining what would happen if he were to create the universe and et cetera.

Really? I read God's Debris by Scott Adams ages ago, and it came off as something a philosophy 101 student would write in his spare time after discovering Plato and fringe-sites.

No we haven't

A few people claiming something doesn't prove it, especially when they're talking about an unprovable dilemma.

So you're telling me an omniscient deity would NOT know what would happen and would need to actually play out the experiment?

Or is there a possibility that god is not omniscient?

I'm telling you we haven't proven shit.

- To suggest that there is something that an omniscient character would not know is ludicrous.

- There is no possibility that "god" (correctly: "God") is not omniscient. BUT there is a poss. that "a god" would not be.

- We do not know what happened, or why we are here. Perhaps once an "experiment" begins, it actually has to HAPPEN (in the false illusional reality that we inhabit) in order for its conclusions to be drawn.

Ah, man, you've lost me.

Who is "a god"? Aren't we talking specifically about the christian god? Or was that part not important for the rest of your post?

And could you rephrase your last paragraph? I'm not sure I really understand it as-is.

Sorry, I'm just not too used to really... you know... thinking.
