So i know that alot of you dont believe in religion, but most of the modern world was founded on principles told by jesus and his followers. Many wars, the only motivation for the fighters was going to heaven.
Lets say that Mary simply smothered jesus or something when he was born, as he was obviously the product of some sort of adultry. Now im assuming that the current christians would be a different religion, probably either a form of polytheistic roman belifs or an arabic religion.
Without jesus there may be a few folowers of christanity (under a differernt name of course) but with out 'the son of god' there would be few belivers and would probably die out.
If been thinking about this for a couple of days and cont really come up with a disadvanatge to jesus never existing. I think that the jewish religion would have dried up too, since they wouldnt have the indication that god existed.
This is probably more fitted towards the religion for or HB even, but give m eyour ideas, and any authority figure can change forums if they feel the need to.

Sorry, what's your point?
Are you putting this as an arguemnt for the existance of Christ?
I think it is pretty much widely accepted as fact that Christ did exist, the debate is weather he was actualy a synergy of man and God, or not. There is much more evidence for the existance of christ than there is for many other figures around the same time.
The man has books written about him early on in history, that tell stories by different authors, and yet places and events all fit together. Plus the existance of christianity, and the extreme following in wpite of massive prejudices right after christs lifetime, they all point towards him existing.
Moreover, why wouldn't you believe he existed? If he didn't exist, then someone made him up, and for someone to make the whole story up, and spread it as far as it was spread so fast, he must of been as large a figure as Jesus anyway.
Anyroad, the point is, it's generaly accepted he did exist.
Saying Jesus didn't exist is no different to saying Socrates didn't exist. I mean, no one can really prove you wrong, it happened a long time ago, but, there is so much evidence to suport his being, why doubt it?

I thought you were saying the existance of christians today proves the existance of christ, since if he did not exist christians would not exist.
Forgive me for misunderstanding, but you really didn't make it clear exactly what you meant, or what your point was. It just seemed like you set the needle down randomly.

If Mary had killed Baby Jesus, then Christianity couldnt exsist. He wouldnt have grown up to be the prophet we all know and love(or hate). But some form of religion would exsist. I prefer simple nature worship, so much easier and its provable.

If Mary had smothered Jesus, it would irrevocably remove Christianity from the world as we know it...
Lets says its post the nativity story. You have a set of shepards, 3 wise men, and a stable boy perhaps that no of the baby being Jesus. A religion could start, but more of an Angelical Christianity - the Star at Night, the Angels proclaiming his birth. His death may not be known to anyone, or it could be marked in a similar way to his crucifixion.
However the religion would take the place of say Hinduism or Budism today. Due to the very very few people that would have know of Jesus, the strength of this to build a religion upon would be far less than what it would be with him growing up into the man he became..and miracle working and such.
If anything, the Jewish religion, or perhaps the Roman Gods would still be the dominant religious motive - when you think about it, Christianity would not have spread quicker. the Roman strengthened religion would laugh at a claim of another religion taking its place - probably hanging or crucifying those who stated its claim in the first place.

As the angel of the Lord has annunciated to Mary that she is about to have an imaculate conception - the last thing Mary wants is to kill the baby, as the God would have been VERY pissed off with her.

there are an infinity of "what if" questions. you could say "what if gunjah was never born?" then he wouldnt be asking a stupid question.
