I don't have any reason to. Almost every single witch and other pagan I have met has been into it strictly for the 'rebellion' of it. It's a fad, nothing more.

Besides that, Asatru is based upon real historical records and cultural traditions. It's more of a family religion than a world religion.

I compeletely know what your talking about, they're in it to do spells and shit, they know nothing of the religion or anything, they think it's cool to be a "Witch" or whatever. Its annoying! I like the religion itself, I don't even use magick that much

I was a solitary for a while in the eighties, had an altar and all.

Now I just think of myself as a friend of God--if you must pin a label on me, I guess "gnostic pagan deist animist" is reasonably accurate.

Wicca was invented by a man in the fifties. Continuing Paganism requires a tremendous amount of stupidity to stare in the face of scientific fact and poo-poo it with "magick." By the way, according to Thelema, "magick" is the blasphemous wzay to spell the word. It should be spelled "magic," and ti should also be understood that, at least according to the occult (whom i trust mroe in information than you as I ahve Crowley's books on hand), amgic is not intended to be a functional entity but merely a metaphorical action taken to express and gain control over one's environment and situation. An empowerment thing for people not strong enough internally to reach out and take what they need.

Long live science, you superstitious motherfuckers.

There's no such thing as Paganism. It was invented by Dan Brown as a cult for Bi-sexual, emo, goth losers that like to burn themselves and cast 'magick' on others because they made fun of them.

No, they're tapping into something which they don't understand and is infinatly more powerful than them.

Most of the beliefs are pretty much bullshit, but i guess quite interesting.

i really dont see why you would have to refuse to accept scientific fact if you are a pagan/heathen Gorloche.

Not that i no a lot about paganism mind you, im generally agnostic and have never been intrested in any religion other then buddhism, which seems to make the most sense to me.

Indeed im sure all major religions and many minor ones can work in hamrony with science if you dont take everything that religion commands in a literal fundamentalist way.

if you knew anything and wicca, you'd know we don't "cast magick" on others. It aginst all we believe in.

EDIT: its not a cult

Scientific fact? Maybe because we believe in something that we think has more power over science. Same with most major religions. Do you know how many people believe "god" "created" the world in 6 or 7 or how ever many days it is? You can't just aim that at Pagans or Wiccans.

Then you weren't Asatru. There is no dogma associated, and there certainly isn't anything denying science.

Science is a method by which we verify and explain phenomena of any kind.

To say something has more power than science is a completely meaningless thing. Anything that actually occurs can be put to the scientific method.

I recently started dating someone who claims to be Wicca. Just in case I decided to follow through with it I marked my calendar so I'll know when my year + 1 day is over.

The Book of Shadows I started reading seems pretty generic.

I don't think she will be interested in it next year, but we'll see.

Please CJ, explain to me your beleifs... Don't take the easy way out and do what any rebellious 13 year old can do and copy and paste a link or some article you googled. Actually explain to me your beleifs and interpretations of the literature pertaining to your religion. Links to back up what you write would be appreciated. I'm not doing this to attack you or your beleifs, I am merely curious but if you claim to be one who isn't herded into this religion of yours like many, show it to me and the many others I am sure who are just as curious as me. I have run into a couple 'wiccans' on the internet and none were able nor willing to explain to me their beleifs. I mainly ask this of you because your beleifs are not shared as widely as say christianity.

It would be a lot easier if you asked specific questions that I could answer.

I believe in a main god and goddess, but I happen to think of the goddess as more important, I also believe there is a specific god and goddess for everything(for exapmle a river god and goddess.)I believe in reincarnation. I believe in Karma. I celeberate the sabbits.

can you ask me specific things you would like you know, Ill answer anyone questions.

I would have started with more specific questions, but I know nothing of your beliefs, so I left them more open ended.

What do you believe happens after you pass?

Karma is no longer religion specific as far as I have observed, however it was Buddhism I believe where it came from.

after I pass reincarnation, meaningdepending on how you live your live you get reincarnated into a "better" one. and karma, as in what ever you do comes back, that includes in magic

This sounds more along the line of Buddhism to me. I also remember a teacher who had beleifs along these lines. She told us of her previous lives, where she was a butterfly as one and a cat as another... But in Buddhism, is one not supposed to remember his prefious life?

The spell for that one is pretty simple. Read the textbook assignments three times, once to yourself, once outloud alone, and once outloud to someone else.

You don't even have to be a witch to perform it.

Yes, I understand that.

I recently performed my first ritual. I did a cleansing on a used deck of Tarot cards. Pretty simple, white candle, circle of salt, dispose of the salt permanently when finished.

I'm just curious, why exactly do you follow the wicca way. I'm aware that a great deal of christianity is total bull shit but like everything else in life i just manage to sort out the bull and follow the way that sounds right. Wicca is somewhat of a chaotic religon and from what i know the boundaries to it leave something to be desired

Im not too sure what your asking...

I'm Wiccan. Solitary, because all the Wiccans I know are insane emo girls. Either that, or they are liars who want in my pants.

Sorry if i was vague with my question, i was just wodering what reason you had to take up the religon and denounce all others. It's just that i've studied all the religons i can think of and honestly i didn't find any more credit to the wiccan faith than any other religon, i won't lie i think it's more of a fad than a serious faith
