I don't think there is a God that judges you after you die, but the state of your soul does play an important part. I think the actions and thoughts you have during life determine who you are as a person (correct?). Well, after you die, you go to the astral realm, where there are different laws and ways of experiencing the environment, namely it's all mental, but a different understanding of "mental" than the one we have while still alive.

Mental as in spiritual, as in it's your soul that perceives everything. You don't have eyes to see light, ears to pick up vibrations, or nerves to get impulses. You have yourself. Thinking. While you're alive, which part of you is you? If you cut off your arm, are you still here, or are you where your arm is? Your legs, torso, appendages, everything is all just add-ons. It's your brain that houses the soul while alive (or maybe a charkra in yer head, I dunno yet). When you die, the energy (not like fueled energy, spiritiual energy) goes to the other dimension.

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." To me, this means that He made the different planes, the physical and the astral. He created the "firmament" of Heaven, which is the astral plane, the place your everlasting soul ends up, and depending on whether or not you've been "good, " this could be a great thing, or a horrible fate.

Depending on your abitility to handle this astral plane, you could have the time of your "life, " or it could be disastrous. I personally believe that this is where the idea of Heaven and Hell came from. If you're spiritually mature, able to give up your individuality (because you're becoming part of The One, the Ultimate) yet remain a positive influence, your consciousness will take advantage of what death has to offer. You'll know universal truths and see things you could never imagine, worlds and creatures you had no idea existed. But if you led a "bad, " or spiritually impure, life, then out of necessity and law, you won't be able to experience it that way. Your soul just isn't the same as others; it's tainted, unable to do or accept what's necessary in order for it to truly be free. I'm not sure how this experience would be, perhaps it could be compared to torture, a veritable Hell, full of pain and immobility, the loss of knowledge and light.

So, yes, it depends on who you are as a person, whether or not you'll be happy after death. But not by the Judeo-Christian standards, though they might have a couple things correct.

Um, ok. Not sure what responses you are looking for. I'll respond in the same style as your post;

What you say is founded on nothing, proves nothing, has no demonstrable results, and means nothing.

So, my response is:

It's founded on spirituality. Think about religion in general. Why?

******

Also, it doesn't matter whether you're gay, or that you've killed somebody, or if you have a tattoo. It depends on the state of your soul at death, when you no longer have a chance to change it. That's probably why murderers can give their hearts to God while on death row, and still be accepted into the kingdom of Heaven.

How about the fact that you're conscious, sentient? You're not a rock.

Why does everyone need evidence? People won't accept whatever is found

anyway, always trying to explain it away. Sure, it can be explained,

it's a natural thing, but whatever "evidence" is offered will be pecked

at and scrutinized, and finally "debunked" by those who refuse to see

what's in front of their eyes. If any evidence had been found that

people actually accepted, don't you think that you'd know about it by

now? But the thing is, every time something's offered, people turn a

blind eye to the facts, looking for the physical in the metaphysical.

Thought energy, electrons, telepathy, the spiritual dimension that is

revealed through the usage of shrooms and LSD, all of these play a part

in discovering the unknown/unaccepted part of humanity, yet people

still refuse to see.

Interesting twist you put on it, Merlin. I still can't subscribe to it, but I appreciate the effort of anyone who takes a stab at redefining yet again the absurdly far-fetched idea of an Afterlife.

I am pretty sure I am going in a hole when I die.

Well Merlinmann you can count me in. I subscribe to the "Why not?" concept. I figured out some time ago that anything to do in this world doesn't need to be proven to me. "Man On The Moon?" Why not. "The moon is hollow" Why not. Etc. I found that when I threw away all the beliefs I have held since I was little, life got much more interesting. I am a firm believer that anything...and I do mean anything, is possible. I have found out that my world is only as limited as my perception of it. Through that thought process I finally figured out why there were all the wars, why there were so many control issues, why one religion is pitted against another. Yep, I believe that if you believe there isn't an afterlife, then there isn't. If you believe in facted-based information only, then your world be a reflection of that. I do know there is no right or wrong way to live your life. You are responsible for everything you do and you are your very own judge and jury. "Everything that you do will come back to you" One doesn't have to believe it, but try this: Walk down the street and slap the first person that you see. Odds are in your favor that they will slap you right back. Call it karma, call it pay back, call it reaping what you have sown. Anyway, we each have our own path to walk. We can make it as easy or as hard as we want to. It is again our choice. As it was put to me: We are spiritual beings having human experiences. Life is interesting when we live outside the box.

I believe that Judgement and Recompense are important things to have integrated into ones mindset, not only for personal encouragement but also to avoid the need to take vengeance, you could just say "Well at least they will, BURN IN THE FIYAAAAAAA"

I think that if people are sending forth destructive, negative energy through doing bad to themselves and others, they will get it thrown back on them, and likewise to the good.

Evidence is needed only by those that pursue truth. Those that care only for personal feelings are the ones that ignore evidence or believe things without evidence.
