What sort of argument and facts could one present to a christian to try to convince them that evolution is not contradicting the bible and is not evil?

The word "day" in Genesis can also be translated to mean "epoch." Maybe God created the world in seven epochs, not seven days?

Furthermore, the Bible says "Prove all things. Hold fast to that which is true." As a Christian, they should prove that creationism is true, then hold fast to it. Not vise-versa.

lol now abrahim, do not dicredit our thinking completely. Evolution is not evil. I find it to be a flawed theory. There is thermodynamics that says that states the law of conservation of energy. Something can not come out of nothing unless of course there are some other means (God). There is the fact that macro evolution does not hold of drop of water. It is simply not statistically possible. For us to be random ... the possibility is slim to none. RNA does not help anyways, it is not what is needed, that is DNA and that is not what was created from the tests shown. There are the laws of the universe, that have been set at a perfect balance. There are irreducable systems. It just does not make sense to me. O and because the Bible said it happened in a day, and I hold to that belief. I have no idea what this sillyness is about epochs, the hebrew word is yome, and it can be figurative, but since it says that it was night and day, then it is the literal version and means sunrise to sunset.

I have no problem with people inventing myths to explain things we don't understand. I mean, until we figure it out, they can be a good way of looking at things.

What bothers me to no end is that some people will still use myths for things we do understand.

Christ, we figured it out. It is not a 'theory' anymore. Regardless of whether or not it 'makes sense' to you, almost all scientists know without a doubt that it is true and accepted that many years ago. Regardless of whether or not you 'get it,' they have been creating more evolutionary theories, studying and researching more, experimenting, applying it in different places, and otherwise moving on from evolution. Scientists are not trying to prove evolution in any sense.

I'm sorry, but whether it makes sense to you or not, the scientists who are actually experts and know what the hell they are talking about are going about their studies regarding evolution as a fact.

You can't.

Not until they start believing you over their pastor.

The best way is to non confrontationally correct their errors as they will inevitably be taught a false version of evolution and be told "evolution says" a lot of things it doesn't say.

You do not understand what you bash.

Where did God come from? If you establish an axiom, you must apply it consistently.

I hate to break it to you, but speciation has been observed, both in the lab and in nature.

Find me one evolutionary biologist that says evolution is random. You won't, because evolution isn't random. Mutations are random, natural selection isn't. Read the wikipedia page on "Natural Selection" if you don't get this. If you're really ambitious, you might want to do some research on genetic algorithms (computing). They work by starting with an arbitrary solution, then randomly mutating said solutions, then "killing off" those that are the least accurate. This process is continued until a solution is obtained, and it works. If you have ever used Mathematica, Matlab, or Maple, you've probably inadvertently used one of these algorithms.

Again, this is a ridiculous assertation. Could you provide me of an example of an "irreducable system?"

If there is a creator or "GOD", which even the most skeptical scientist will admit is a possibility, you will only be aware of his existense when he reveals his presence to this earth. If he truly did in those Old Testament texts thousands of years ago, I believe that no man to this day would deny his presence.

I don't think that evolutionists try to prove that there is no creator simply because they realize that there would be no way to do so. If this being truly is "God", he would conist of laws, energy, patterns, and would literally be science and reality itself. Evolutionists are tracing this species back to that species, they can not disprove the theory of a "creator" therefore it will remain a mystery until they can.

My grandmother, along with many other church-goers, believes that Satan created evolution to try to decieve human-kind in order to get souls into hell and out of heaven.

You can't say this Satan guy isn't clever.

Which is funny, I've heard some claim God faked the evidence for evolution as a way to test the faith of "true believers."

You can't say this God guy isn't clever.
