No moral reason. Just so you don't kill yourself.

because religious people like killing. whether it be war, capitol punishment, death sentence... they would like to kill a person before a person does it to him/herself. religious people love doing exactly the opposite of what their religions tell them not to do.
sex out of wedlock, killing, adultry, blasphemy, false idols... they love doing everything they condemn.

Probably because you immediately stop contributing anything at all to society, and you unnecessarily cause suffering for others. I bet that in certain cases it is acceptable in the eyes of a Christian or whatever to commit suicide but usually it would only be for the good of others (the "greater good").

For taking the "gift of life" for granted. For not appreciating what you had, focusing on what you lost or didn't have or the pain rather than the Good.

The biblical writers neither condemn nor commend those whom they record as having taken their own lives.

Who's to say where you'll go? I mean, it's not like anyone who's done it successfully can tell you if you go to hell, now is it?

That would be kinda cool to die and tell everyone what happened when you died.

Re: how come you go to hell if you kill yourself.
Well the stigma against suicide condemns as sin any attempt to escape from life, because religon regards life as a duty, burden or sentence imposed on us by God.
There is no concept causes more suffering than that of sin, and no emotions cause more suffering than those of guilt and shame. Everybody grows up with them because they are instilled by religion, family, government, society, in order to coerce obedience.
The two types of sins are:
1) the belief that it is possible to DO something that is wrong or evil
2) the belief that it is possible to BE somebody who is bad or worthless
Both guilt and shame require concepts of the victim and victimiser. Thus, guilt/shame is based on the dual concepts of one entity that victimises and another that is victimised. When a person is old enough to perceive himself/herself to be victim and another person to be victimiser, he/she blames the victimiser instead of looking directly at the guilt/shame in order to understand it.
However UNDERSTANDING it is the only way to become free of it. Blaming the victimiser is of no use because it only reinforces and perpetuates it. Furthermore if the victim and victimiser have a personal relationship, blaming the victimiser results in the victimiser feeling guilt/shame, who not understanding the feeling, sees the victim as victimiser and then tries to offload the guilt/shame onto him/her, who in turn feels even more guilt/shame and tries to offload it back again.
This blaming/counterblaming interaction can continue in other relationships throughout a persons life, but both victim and victimiser are nothing but concepts and realise that to realise that is to become free from guilt/shame. This doesn't mean that they disappear, only that they are no longer binding.
So in otherwords, God/Satan, Good/Evil, Heaven/Hell are all concepts stemmed from the ego's fear/desires in life. Therefore they are not real and made out of the concepts of space, because that gives us the feeling we are all separate. So don't worry to much about going to hell if you kill yourself. All suicide is, is just a separation of suffering. There is other ways to end suffering that don't involve killing yourself.
Peace and Love
Evan

Wow, that was easy. I think we're both psychic, I know exactly what will happen tomorrow in complete detail.

The thing is fox, that we do. Do you know exactly what is going to happen tomorrow, and it is only by choosing the right choices and points that come along allows us to get there. Closer and closer of where you perceived yourself future-self to be.

Tell me about the one who proved hell doesn't exist, simply by it not existing today.

Re: how come you go to hell if you kill yourself.
Because religion doesn't like the idea of people "escaping" their and realities grasps by killing themselves, so they obviously have traditionally told people that doing so will mean they'll be off to hell.
Quite a few religions nowdays are more lenient about it though, but definatly in the middle ages and up to the 19th century if you killed yourself you couldn't be burried in the local graveyard and you were a dead-discrace to everyone...

Tell me about the one who proved the sun will rise tomorrow just because it did today. You cant do it. Somethings are unprovable yet we know them to be true, based on the overwhelming evidence.

Exactly, plus the religions that do not discourage suicide will not propagate as well as the ones that do. Simple Darwinian mechanics applied to belief systems.

We can't know the future or anything about the afterlife, we have no knowledge of it. We can assume the sun will rise as it has risen every day in the past, but we can not know what nation might appear in the future, or even what might personally happen to us tommorow. The "Afterlife" and "Judgement Day" are made in such a way that they could happen tommorow or in the distant future or not at all, but we can't know for sure and there can't be any evidence to prove it.

Re: how come you go to hell if you kill yourself.
Ya go to Hell because who are you to take a life, whether or not it's your own.
(The non-existant) God was the one who breathed life into you and gave you the blessing of life, for the purpose of serving and glorifying Him. If you kill yourself, you give it all up and decide His shit wasn't good enough for you.

Which makes them all the more improbabale. So in improbable that they may as well not exist. Just as improbable that the sun would not rise tomorrow.

Or if you look at the larger cycle of things, Hinduism, Bhuddism, Islam, Taoism all notice there are cycles constantly reflected in the system.
