I believe in a higher power, and possibly an afterlife, yet I do not know for sure and respect that.

My rational mind looks at the story of christianity (what I was raised and brainwashed to believe for 12 years) like it would the story of 'Santa Clause', and i'm sure we all know that one.. pretty rediculous right?

Buddhism really interests me but I still disagree with some of the things they do, I feel no religion can ever nail it, it's impossible, all religions are man-made and men are not (nor probably ever will be) infallible, so I believe in no religion but I think they all have the same basic principles, don't kill/steal etc etc blah blah. Seems almost like a control mechanism, ya know what I mean? Or maybe it's just that crutch that people need to think if they say these things to someone in their head by praying, it will all just be alright and they will be in a better place when they die, yet babies die innocently everyday and 'God' does nothing, I feel it's more of a spirit if anything and has no influence on this earth (yet I speculate this).

I just plan on being an all around good guy obviously make mistakes sometimes, if I wanna take drugs i'm going too, if I want to get drunk I will, if I want to have sex I will, etc etc.

Yet I still do believe in a higher power or spirit.

I'm a bit lost in the whole situation, anyone offer some advice? maybe some books?

Thanks for reading, peace.

What's your MSN? I'd like to talk to you if you have it!

You might be interested in some of my posts here!

and

"What is God?" http://www.totse.com/bbs/Forum15/HTML/005442.html

Feel free to comment at those! The True religion one talks alot about different religions! You, in my opinion, are on the right track, its good that you have some belief! When you're ready you should find which fits most into your view of things, or what sounds most right!

Seems more and more people are getting on the same bandwagon as you... which means more and more frauds will corrupt it until it's but a twisted perversion of its initial core...

Perhaps Humanism might be of some interest to you...

As far as spirituality is concerned, what's the commotion all about? If you're a physical being having the occasional spiritual experience, enjoy it and learn from it while it lasts, without getting too attached and if you're a spiritual being having a physical experience, enjoy it and learn from it while it lasts, without getting too attached

Agnostic? but I don't question the existance of a higher power, I see there is no proof saying there is or is not, but I still feel there is.

I just feel no religion can ever figure out what happens with afterlife or any of that nonsense.

I am just religious, without a label stamped on my forehead.
