So take an extremely retarded person, with the same mental capacity as an ape, that person would go to hell. So do apes all go to hell also? Does God send every single nonsentient animal in creation to hell? Or is there something particular about humans that make us uniquely eligible for entry to Heaven/Hell? If so, what is it, because apes and humans only have 2 percent genetic difference, so in those two percent is there something divine? If so, through gene manipulation, can we remove just the genes that allow us to go to heaven or hell, and then be able to sin, sin, sin our hearts out without worrying about going to hell?

Yes. Unfortunately their souls do not know the redemption of the Lord Jesus Christ, and so their souls are not saved, and as a result they may not enter the kingdom of god. I don't think this is terrible complicated, do you?

I seriously wonder about how fundamentalists can have totally and absolutely fixed views based on the official Church doctrine, and then be able to change their beliefs when the Church so arbitrarily changes very established concepts (deciding after centuries that purgatory just... isn't there after all??). At least the pre Vatican 2 doctrine was somewhat consistent even though it was harsh, the new ruling makes zero sense whatsoever.

And the Church now doesn't know what happens to babies etc but hopes God looks after them? Glad someone knows what they are talking about then...
