Your true faith.
Well we have all been hurling mud and filth at each other for quite some time now, but the question of my post today is the following:
What do you consider to be your religion ? Are you catholic, calvinist, lutheran, jewish, muslim, atheist, deist, agnost ?
Please care to be specific, so I know from what point of view you will ridicule the religious christian or foul heathen in various future topics.
I consider myself amongst the deists, meaning that I do believe in some sort of higher being, force, power, god if you will, but I am not convinced that it is the being, force or god as depicted by any of the worlds religions. ( I am officialy catholic, by the way, but I was baptised because of 'tradition', my parents aren't religious, the only religious person in my family I think is my great grandmother ).
You ?

theologists refer to this as 'Ur-christianity'

Subjective atheism: I believe spiritual entities could and likely do exist, but nothing *I* would call a god.

Some people state the religion that they are officially. I meant your true faith... the things that you believe in yourself... And please explain that religion in short...

Re: Your true faith.
The jury is still out on this but...
I lean toward a more gnostic mindset, I suppose, but do not limit myself to any set belief system. I believe that just as the temple that was built could not contain 'God' neither can the mind or thoughts of man.
But, I do I find that I am strongly drawn to certain aspects of Judaism and native american spirituality.
However, I would probably be classified as agnostic...simply because I believe there is a difference between knowledge and 'knowing'. 'Knowing'...in the sense that we cannot know that which we are not...and in such our knowledge is limited at best.

Asatru in a nescient way! Short explanation:
I believe in the gods in a metaphoric way as well as a literal form. I am like outcast, though, in that I think one can never really know, so that is where my nescience comes in.
I have a personal relationship with the gods, though, even if that means I'm only invoking another part of myself.
EDIT: I probably should've said what Asatru is other than saying I believe in 'the gods.'
Asatru is the religion of the old Norse people. While I'm not really norse, all indo-europeans had similar ideas on religion so I just stick with the one that I know is closest to Slavic/has the most known about it.
It's more of a way of life than anything, though. I was raised Christian, but it was more like a Sunday thing. Asatru is a daily thing for me.

I'm sorry I'm not familiar with this.
yeah i mean using all avaible sources to discover what jesus taught and not what the churches say he taught.
most of what modern christians believe does not have its origins in jesus but was introduced later.
for example, these are historically documented later additions(perversions?)
Mary veneration
holy communion/eucharist
sunday as the sabbat
the cannon of scripture
infact the list is almost endless.

Re: Your true faith.
I'm not sure. I believe in God, but not in Christ or the Holy Spirit. I suppose I'm a monotheistic deist.
One God: he created the universe and permits it to evolve and grow. He doesn't interfere and our next life is determined on our actions in the present life. I believe in the consequences of human behavior: your present actions affect your afterlife.
The purpose of life is to find your own personal peace by your clearing your own personal road. Moderation is a key aspect in achieving happiness.

Non-denominational Christian.
Non-denom because I strongly believe that religion does nothing but separate people, and that is the exact OPPOSITE of what God wants.
Christian: I believe in God. Alpha & Omega. Beginning and End. God, triune - that is, God the Father, God the Son (Christ), and God the Holy Ghost.
I believe in salvation through faith alone...works aren't going to get you there.
I believe that even though I do not deserve to be forgiven for my multitude of sins, I am. This facet of Christianity alone blows me away.
I believe that Jesus will return for his people, not too long from now.
That's about it.

Re: Your true faith.
Atheist/Agnostic
Atheist -- I do not believe any of today's religions are accurate in their description of reality.
Agnostic -- I believe that some of the most fundamental aspects of existence and consciousness have yet to be discovered.
I also believe in so-called "psychic phenomena" as a natural part of our universe. If our culture survives long enough, we will eventually find out exactly what these are through scientific methods. Currently many religions offer incorrect explanations for psychic phenomena, and flaunt their existence as proof of their own rightness. Finding the truth will most likely not spell the end to religion, as today's religions are highly resistant to glaring inaccuracies (for example: Christianity and young-earth Creationism).
Psychic phenomena are probably closely linked to the science behind consciousness, which has yet to be completely understood.
