Default Christian question

If after baptising a child he is sinless, why don't we kill them then? this way they'd go straight to heaven. i think that would be the most humane thing to do.

Also by killing them we would go to hell. BUT....by ensuring their salvation we would compromise our own and such a self-sacrifice really deserves to be rewarded in heaven.

NOTE: In no way do i advocate the murder of infants. this is just a theoratical talk. I don't see any flaws in my logic. Do you?

You don't see any flaws? Wow

What's to say that there actually is a Heaven and we're not just killing infants for no reason?

So let us weigh the possibilities here.

We have:

A. We kill a bunch of infants on the grounds of a book with so many contradictions in it it's almost laughable.

VS.

B. We don't go around killing infants.

This is where Occam's Razor comes into play.

I assume he's aiming this question to Christians, which is why he is taking the Bible and the as entirely correct (e.g. as the question "Why does god allow evil/hurt/pain/etc. to exist?" which takes his existence, and his omnipotence, omniscience and benevolence as correct).

Touche.

Then i'll answer it as a Christian would.

Wouldn't you want them to live out their lives? How is it the "most humane thing" to do? You're taking the life of an innocent being.

Why would God let you into Heaven? "Thou Shall Not Kill" is one of the ten commandments. It doesn't matter on what grounds you killed, you still killed.

Yes but most people will go to hell so therefor i am ensuring their salvation.

Also,, by saving so many souls i am consiously compromising my salvation. And to save someone else's soul at the expense of your own is the most selfless act i can think of. SO..... such a selfless act deserves to be rewarded, don't you think?

NOTE: I would like to say that i really appreciate the serious responses despite the fact that the question is somewhat stupid. I really expected answers : "You sir, are an idiot!".

Because we who killed them would sin. Besides, thats not Christian at all to do such a thing

Err, your knowledge on Christianity is very limited

Baptising infants doesn't make them sinless. Baptism is a symbol, it doesn't actually do anything. Catholics may believe differently, but protestants don't even baptise babies (I assume that's what you're talking about). Paul did address new christians about doing whatever you want after salvation, since all sins from the past and the future are forgiven. He basically said that if someone would give you such a great gift that you would want to live your life for him, and I guess that most christians agree.

EDIT: I can't spell

Well, you may be correct but im Religion (Christian Orthodox) it is believed that every person is born with the original sin (Adam & Eve & the Apple of Doom ), that being their only sin. And when they are baptised at a very young age (6 weeks I believe) that only sin is "washed away". So they are sinless (What other sins would an one year old have?)

The sin isn't an actual apple that some (EDIT: somebody) else ate. It was what happened when they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It's human nature. That's the sin. Just existing. That's it.

Eating the fruit was not the original sin, but going against God only (negative) commandment.. dont eat from the ToKoG&E.

The other commandment that He gave A&E (well, all of living Creation)was to be fruitful and multiply.

if you keep the whole Law, but stumble on one point, the whole Law is broken. <<paraphrased>>

correct again my good fellow. I must also point out however, on the point of "be fruitful and multiply". Gods will sometimes leads you to a mate who cannot reproduce. It does sometimes happen, but it is in His will so He wont hold it against you. Also God will for some people doesnt even include marriage at all.
