Default One Year from Now(6/6/06)

Damn that's gonna be messed up.But does god have any say on what may happen on this oh so infamous day to be made as of yet?

Along with 2012,there has to be something along the lines on say of something of this date in history.& I'm not thinking about religious zeolot rhetoricals saying"thy doom is nye!"or any of that crap, although it may actually be deemed to be along with it.

So what's the say on it?Anything we should be worried about?

First, Jesus said that only the Father knows the day.

Second, 666 is not a date. It is the number of the name (of the Beast).

And, as was sorta pointed out, some manuscripts give this mumber as 616. Although, personally, i think it is 666.

And, just to be clear, it is six hundred sixty six, as opposed to three sixes.

Actually if it is derived from a Hebrew methoid of numerology it would be three sixes, because hebrew uses repetition to show empahsis.

Not necessarily. Hebrew & Greek (and i think Aramaic) are languages that use(used) the writing characters also for denoting numbers.

The prophecy of the Mark was written in Greek. But the wording is "matter of factly", so i think any language that uses alpha characters also as numbers is a possibility.

Since it is prophecy, i think the true meaning will be understood (and also, rejected by many) when the time comes.

Lutheran eschatology (sp?) attributes 666 as symbolism for verious reasons... part of which, 6 being imperfect and short of 7. And 3 of them linked together would be 3 'imperfects' compared to the Trinity of God (3 "perfects")...

it's been awhile since i've read up on this, but in a nutshell, this is close enough for now.

I find it funny, though, that Lutherans for the most part, take the Bible pretty literal, until they get to Revelations. In my oppinion, the symbolism that Lutheran doctrine teaches, concerning Revelations is probably partialy right, because it is also based off of OT prophecy (and NT), but i think Revelations is ALSO meant to be understood literally.. i.e. a real Anti-Christ, a literal mark on the right hand or on the forehead, etc....

I realize that a literal understanding of Revelations is harder for people to handle than the same understanding of Genesis and the rest of the Bible. But i figure, if God is the author of the whole thing, AND He is telling us His Truth, why would He change from mostly literal to mostly symbolic? Even OT prophecies, when understood after the fact, were quite literal, but before the fact , they were questioned and doubted....i guess we'll know when the time comes.

Ronald. Wilson. Reagan. The Social Insurance Number was created by Reagan so you have to have one to get a job, and hands across america was when he united all races for the first time ever under one rule. And God didnt write the bible men did. Revelations is symbolic because John saw it in his dreams. Also, he explains cars as horses that spew sulphuric gas or something like that.

I'd like france to burn to ground... or canada... but wouldn't that have to be 2666? not 2006?

While we're on this subject, wouldn't it have made sense for anything apocalyptic to have occured during 666 BC or 666 AD? Even though you've got your 1666 AD and 2666 AD, it can't exactly be considered as the "perfect" or actual number 666 (for obvious reasons), can it? And then there's the theory that good 'ol whoever-the-hell-it-was who had actually dreamed of this number, saw it BACKWARDS in his dream (must've been tripping something hardcore, aye?) as 666 whereas it quite possibly was 999. Just some food for thought...

Oh wow, I don't know where to begin on that one. Theres a huge basis on the number being 666. A huge basis? As in, people have made a lot of conjecture about how 666 relates to apocalypse. That's just about it. See the links I posted above; not only do they show that the oldest manuscripts of Revelation have 616, but they also give other information that's interesting.

Here they are again: http://www.edwardtbabinski.us/skepticism/616666.html http://www.religionnewsblog.com/11134

Dr. Aitken said, however, that scholars now believe the number in question has very little to do the devil. It was actually a complicated numerical riddle in Greek, meant to represent someone's name, she said.

"It's a number puzzle -- the majority opinion seems to be that it refers to [the Roman emperor] Nero."

Revelation was actually a thinly disguised political tract, with the names of those being criticized changed to numbers to protect the authors and early Christians from reprisals. "It's a very political document," Dr. Aitken said. "It's a critique of the politics and society of the Roman empire, but it's written in coded language and riddles."

My old Latin teacher once told me that,e ven went into some pretty obscure details and how they related to how many emperors that had ruled since Christianity began, what political groups were being symbolized and whatnot. It really, really makes sense, and if God allowed his people to write a doomsday theory that could easily be misconstrued, that's just fucked up. There was also another book of doomsday that the Catholic church decided was not cannon: The Book of the Armageddon. It pretty much said that the world jsut up and ends and that Peter convinces God to allow everyone into heaven. This would make God able to change his mind by influence of a mortal, which frightened the church, so it was dropped in the Vatican vault.

Well, there was the great earthquake in San Francisco in 1906, I don't know the exact date but it was around june 6th. Who knows, maybe we'll get another one. I doubt it.

Well actually I googled it, it happened on april 18th, 1906.

So you figure 4-18-06. Thats a bit far from 06-06-06.

That still would be cool.

I don't think it takes a huge brain to realize that argument is very loosley based.

I'm not trying to say it has absolutely no credibility, just that it can't be considered at all as fact.

Furthermore what I was talking about as far as a basis for the number being 666 is something few christians and few ministers know. Like I said I'll post a topic on it. Probably sometime with in the next few weeks along with some other theories on it.
