Don't loose faith. Always look for God. You know as well as I do He is there and that He loves you. Bad things happen. This is earth.

who cares if he exists or not?

you wouldn't miss your loved ones if they weren't special to begin with... if god does not exist, does that degrade your memory of them in any way, or do you still love them the same? if he does exist, do you really find yourself loving them more?

in any case, you are lucky to have had people in your life worth missing. some spend their entire lives without anyone to love. i'm sorry for your losses, but wouldn't you agree that spending a life alone is somehow worse?

don't waste time and energy contemplating the existence of a useless mystery. live your life to honor the memory of those you've lost - that's all any of us can do... and if you actually manage to do it, it's usually enough to ease the pain.

Why did you believe in the first place? Did you actually choose Christianity (if that's your religion) or did your parents just bring you up that way? Look around in the world and see what you believe.

So, you had faith before you experienced misfortune?

Do you realize bad things have been happening to good and bad people for millions of years?

Evidently, 'bad' events aren't as bad as we see them, or there is no God.

There has not been millions of years yet.

Either way, the main guy, you have great losses but regardless of whether god exists or not, always remember that there is always someone out there that is worse off than you so still be thankful for what you have and thankful for the time you spent with your loved ones.

Oh yeah, and your timeline thing points out that modern man has only been round the past 400 thousand years or so. I dont think anyone would even class those monkey guys as "people"

Your right, i did not mention humans, i mentioned millions of years.

And the link is scientific conjecture. It's how (some) scientists think it happened.

Can't ya'll stay on topic for five minutes? Just because something bad happened doesn't mean that G-d doesn't exist or care about you, just like something good happening doesn't prove he does. If you believe in a just G-d, then there was a reason behind it all, if not then it was just a random series of incredibly unfortunate events. If G-d does exist then they will be with him, if not then, well then they are gone. Either way, as was already said, rejoice in their memory do not mourn your loss. I personally believe they have gone to G-d, remeber a great man on earth, becomes a greater man in heaven.

If you don't have anything worth saying, then why bother posting. Does it make you feel better about yourself? Probably, but it won't last. You'll still be here for a long while futily attempting to degrade others to make yourself feel better.

Just remember the only way you could have freewill is if others did too. If they're dicks, that doesn't mean God is too.

god is there, but i believe that he does not really give a shit about humans, and thus he lets us deal with our own problems, and lets us work them out for ourselves..... really, if you created a bunch of little ppl, wouldn't it be far more amusing to watch them fuck each other up, rather than telling them how to do it????

jew_dude: get real, leaving the 'o' out of god doesn't really make you a better jew....

The theist carries the burden of proof. If you cannot know conclusively one way or another on a certain issue you should always choose the simpler explanation. Say that someone claims that there are invisible and intangible fairies down the street. You can't prove it, but you also can't disprove it. So is belief in these fairies rational? No. One should assume that God does not exist until it has been demonstrated otherwise.

God demonstrates in His Creation.

Instead of assuming He does not exist until demonstrated/proven, i think an open mind is more honest...

You're not too bright, are you? It's much simpler to believe that God created everything, loves us, and wants to be with us, than to believe that everything just "happened" and all the complex explanations behind that.

---------------------------------------------

For many people it is certainly much more pleasant to believe that "God created everything, loves us, and wants to be with us". However, that is not what I was discussing. What I said (please see full earlier post) applies when two theories or descriptions of something are both of equally accuracy. Notice that describing "the street" as an ordinary one or as one in which there are invisible and intangible fairies are both equally accurate. Since the fairies are intangible, nothing that they do will affect you. Since they have no practical usage or meaning they might as well not exist. There is no reason to tack the addition of fairies onto the description of "the street". In the same way one might say that "The big bang caused the universe and God does not exist" or say that "God exists and he used the big bang to cause the universe". The latter is a useless add on in terms of describing how the universe came to be ( this may apply to any theory of the universe). The reason that you appeal to this type of add on is that in the case of God he is not intangible and you hope to gain from his existence in the form of being loved by him and also I presume going to heaven by him.

you're not too experienced, are you? it's much harder to maintain that existence is a labor of love than a chaotic stew of nonsense.

explain how god's love for his creation was evident during the holocaust.

It's less about "making myself feel better" than it is about "finding humor in pissing dumbasses like you off". But, as long as your high horse is comfortable, may as well enjoy him.

Didnt he also say, "In 20 years Christianity will be no more. My single hand shall destroy the edifice it took 12 apostles to rear." ?

But i find it funny, even ironic, that after he died, Voltaire's house was used by the Geneva Bible Society to print Bibles... and i think it had been his printing press.
