Pun not intended.
http://www.smellthebrimstone.com
this if from the fellows at Westboro Baptist Church, in Topeka, Kansas.
same people who run the sites http://www.godhatesfags.com http://www.gothatesamerica.com
I love it...
I'm begining to think thought that perhaps old Fred might actually be doing it all because he loves the reaction he gets - ie: for shits and giggles.
Either way, yay for free speech
Oh... probably underage, but
I'd hit it

It's astounding how a group of people can choose to live with so much fear and hate. I mean hate can be fun, but I don't think I could get that much into it.

is that movie serious? they're equating 9/11 with god's wrath for homosexuality?
it would be hilarious if it was satire, but i guess there is sincere hatred behind it, huh? crazy.

I think Phelps is serious, he just really loves mocking people with sardonic humour and whatnot.
His response to
"see, what those folks are doin is coming from hate, that aint where we're comin from"
was: "thats right dummy, you're comming from sodom and headed for hell"
If he isn't serious though, he's probably been laughing his ass off for about 15 years straight by now.

That was hilarious.
But Rev. Fred Phelps is a serious nut-case. They have accounts about him, mainly from his son Mark, on www.baptistwatch.org. It's a lot longer than it at first appears, so if you intend to read the whole thing I'd get a snack or two...

I've read that, I read it loooong ago.
However, its worth noting that that baptistwatch site links to several pro-gay websites
In other words, its a front for Feces eating fags and dykes.
Well... seriously though, that site is basically a "we're nice left wing liberal ass-rammers, but please, we don't want to offend your religion with our name or blatant animosity toward your faith, so please don't vote republican"
Okay... not serious, but you get the jist?
Do they mention how Fred Phelps was a civil rights attorney that fought the "Jim Crow Laws" in Topeka?
I actually think it would be decent to have a dialogue about this guy, he isn't just a cut and dry psychopath.
I think in many ways, he's 150 years behind the times, other then his being against racism, he seems to be very much an old-style country democrat...
uhh... reading more of that site...
God... I'm not an American, but even I can see that their goals are unconsitutional.
If militant homosexuals had their way, people would be thrown in jail for even suggesting that homosexuality and "diversity" might not be such a good thing.

BLEH!
thats just crap.
Like it or not, the bible condems homosexuality
"do not lie with mankind as with womankind, it is an abomination" and so forth, there's no fucking ambiguity.
Bloody oath, I'm not a christian, I'm an athiest, but if you actually believe that the bible is truth, you can't just bloody pick and chose what fits the current fad, no matter if its shooting people, or eating shit.

I really didn't look around much at the website, the article wasn't produced by them anyway. If you're going to blame anyone for giving an unfair view you're going to have to go after the reporters or Mark Phelps.
I still think the guy belongs in a loonie bin.
About the Bible condemning homosexuality, the thing that most Christians care about are what Jesus said and the ten commandments. The rest just depends on whether or not they want to follow it. See this excerpt from the Brick Testament. When was the last time you saw all the women in church wearing veils? I thought those verses were quite plain and straight-forward, didn't you?
Oh well...

Umm... the brick testament isn't new to me either.
As for taking it all seriously, Absolutely!
If you claim that the bible is the word of god, go for it.

Briefly... what Phelps is saying is more or less correct. God does call "laying with a man as with a woman" an abomination. When God says, "don't do this" or "do that", it is not a mere suggestion. He is the Soveriegn.
The two problems i have with Phelps is:
1. Phelps appears (if he isnt actually, but i think he is) to be judging gays.... this is God's perogative, not Phelp's
2. If Phelps is saying, "give up the gay lifestyle so that you wont be condemned", i think he is going about it the wrong way. It comes off as pure hatred. If Phelps is really concerned about saving souls, he should be pointing out the error of the way but then show that God's Grace and Love through the work Jesus did on the cross will forgive them if they repent and abandon the lifestyle.
I think Phelps is more harm than good. Atleast in my oppinion.

Uhh... he isn't really saying "give it up or burn" either.
He's a Calvinist, so it's more
"God has proclaimed it, FAGS WILL BURN! and so it shall be!"
Wonderful quotes such as
"God doesn't hate them because they're fags, they're fags because god hates them."
He still strikes me as one of the most incredibly interesting people on earth though.

I couldnt have said it better myself.
But in all fairness however nowhere in the Bible will you see any human that is hated by God. That Phelps guy is a disgrace to all Christians. While God hates sin, he loves the sinner.
Funny thing was Phelps was supposed to protest at a pro-acceptance speech at my university and that dick-in-the-ass didnt even show up! I was going to yell or throw something at him

Its not opinion its fact. Your thoughts is how he should be cnducting himself, if he ever cared to actually study the Bible.
