Why dedicate your life to other people's rules? Let's say god exists. Why follow a bunch of dumbshit rules that other people brought in connection with the image of a specific "God", which is even uncertain he/she/it exists. It's not like God imposed any rules on anyone. All the religious texts were human made. We KNOW our government exists, but it's not like anyone here is following any specific laws.

Don't give me any of that I'm Christian/Islamic/Jewish/Gay for spiritual reasons, cause that's a huge load of shit. There is no "spirituality" in any of these religious, so shut the fuck up about spirituality. The spirituality doesn't come from praying or incense or any of that crap retarded people do. It comes from you being a shameless fuckup and your self consciousness trying to escape from the rest of your dumbfuck brain.

So, why would you limit your freedom by other people's will, instead of your own norms, values, ethics and morals?

Perhaps they find that life presents them with far less hassles and complications if they moderate their behavior. Going balls-out might be fun for a while, but it's got to catch up with you eventually.

I suppose it all depends on if you want to smile now and cry later, or grin now and keep grinning later, with the occasional frown.

Willfully brainwashed sheep, even.

I suppose all we can do is ask the slaughterhouse to pick up the pace and get rid of them all before they spawn.

Snoopy:

You are the moderator of a forum on games and random tirades. What are you doing in a religion forum?

Man made these religions as an expression of and reaction to the elements of the world superior to his senses.

Why would you question a person's freedom to find value in spirituality and devote themselves to the norms, values, ethics, and morals that appealed to them found in the religions you so maliciously criticize? After all, if freedom is the standard in relation to which you thus judge all things, why then question and criticize their decision to utilize that freedom to freely devote themselves to something you don't understand?

Your name goes very will with your dominating powers of imposing anal sodomy on your sorry ass. What are you doing on totse?

Man cried for days when there was thunder and died of old age at 23.

Why would you question a person's freedom to find spirituality in headbutting a concrete wall and devote themselves to idiocy, stupidity, ignorance and homosexuality that appealed to them found in the lack of insight you so gloriously praise? After all, is freedom is the standard in relation to which you suck at all things, why then question and criticize their decision to utilize that freedom to freely (wtf?) devote themselves an overdose of oversimplified idiocy, on a terrorist scale?

Didn't make sense, did it now? Stupid. Don't get served in the future, fucktard.

Yeah its the people who are too retarded to make there own decisions and depend on religion to give them a sense of what is the right and wrong thing to do. Religion is like a drug for some people, makes them feel everything is going to be ok except it has no mind enhancing properties.

Baby, that's WHY I'm on Totse.

Man cried for days when there was thunder...

Actually, He saw fit to worship it (see: Thor, Zeus).

...and died of old age at 23.

Not only would he have died at 23 either by disease or a sabretooth tiger chomping on his balls, and thus not of old age, but that also doesn't refute a damn thing.

Good call. You said religous, not faith.

Simply enough, Faith is following God yourself.

Religion is following other people following God.

You have no arguments against the man, you agree with him in part - and then mock his mockery of you.. Your a fucking tool.

No person is able to justify religon very easily when its questioned - especially not fools like yourself.

People can believe in religon because they cant deal with science, or they fear god or maybe they just cant bear the weight of being responsible for their own life.

The_Rabbi had a point when he mentioned the religon works as a guide for better living, but if our minds can reach a certain level of self sufficency - i think we can handle life on our own.

And tyrant, its intresting that you question why snoopy should be in the religon forum, i dont think it would of been mentioned if he wasnt disagreeing with you.

I don't believe I was ever asked to justify it. Nor do I feel it requires justification to someone who has no interest in hearing it justified such as yourself.

Assuming you understand why people are religious - which, clearly, you don't.

And tyrant, its intresting that you question why snoopy should be in the religon forum, i dont think it would of been mentioned if he wasnt disagreeing with you.

It's always standard debating policy to question a man's authority on a particular subject who opposes you. Snoopy, as moderator of both "Games People Play" and "Spurious Generalities" means he has contributed enough to both forums - both of which are robbed of any aesthetic meaning by virtue of its inhabitants - to become their iconic representative.

I think the simplest answer is just that it's easy to be "religious". Not only do you get a divine justification of superiority over "amoral" people, but you've got the greatest thing you can concieve of in your corner. For most people, the lack of evidence is immaterial. They want the comfort that comes with the three big monotheistics and Hinduism.

Well I think I made quite a few valid points as to how religion is erroneous in my "prove to me god exists" But what I didn't say was another theory I had.

The ancient Aztecs used to warship the mushroom as the fruit of the gods. Without a basic understanding of chemistry they could only come to the conclusion that the "gods" would allow them to see divine insight and communicate spiritually when they ate these mushrooms.

What the Aztecs were eating was nothing more than hallucinogenic mushrooms. The divine insight and spirituality was no more then an alteration in their brain chemistry.

Conclusion: Some Aztecs took some shrooms tripped their asses off and thought up the idea of god or saw what they could only describe as god.

This aside, Religious people are trusting text that has been passed down for thousands of years. You're going to tell me no one took some liberties with respect to the text along the way. Also you're putting your trust in the hands and discretions of people who were obviously less intelligent then us. I laugh at you religious people.

I'd be curious as to why they would want to, yes. However, if they did so freely, as you've already mentioned, I wouldn't say that they limited their freedom by doing so.

And if you need religion to teach you values, norms, morals and ethics, you're fucking subhuman. Nothing but cattle.

Not true, because (bite your tongue, Rust; I know you disagree) your values, norms, morals, and ethics all come from your worldview, which amount to a religion.

Who said those bibles were meant to be a religion? What if they were just the profecies of men based on intellectual thought on social interactions. If you are smart enough you can accurately predict scenarios that will eventually happen on the path to enlightenment. The bible isn't a hand book to good life but rather it points out the road which people must travel to achieve higher society. The people who worship the bible are part of the group of people that the bible says will be destroyed. Religions are just a form of control created by those smart enough to see it's power. Things happen in the bible because the bible exists but it has to for the advancement of man making the bible essential to the stories it tells. If anyone is actually happy being religious it's really more of a case of "ignorance is bliss".

Actually, he did justify religion. He said it was an ontological explanation/reaction.

People can believe in religon because they cant deal with science, or they fear god or maybe they just cant bear the weight of being responsible for their own life.

Or maybe people can believe in science because they can't deal with religion, or they fear God or maybe they just can't bear the weight of being responsible for their own sins and unnapreciation of life that God graciously granted them.

The_Rabbi had a point when he mentioned the religon works as a guide for better living, but if our minds can reach a certain level of self sufficency - i think we can handle life on our own.

And Christians would argue that you couldn't have a life to handle without God.

And in practical terms; of course you can handle life without conciously being aware of Gods presence in it. 90% of MGCBTSOYG is doing that. That doesn't mean anything.

And tyrant, its intresting that you question why snoopy should be in the religon forum, i dont think it would of been mentioned if he wasnt disagreeing with you.

Tyrant questioned Snoopys presence here because if you've ever seen more than 2 of Snoopys threads in this forum you'd know that they are posted simply for reaction and sometimes shock. This would be one of the reaction ones. If Snoopy was a regular poster who was actually trying to learn or debate sensibly then I doubt Tyrant would have said anything. Not to say Snoopy couldn't debate, I've seen him talk seriously on issues and he usually kills people in debates. He just chooses not to here.

I kind of agree. I dont see kneeling doing much for god. theres too much cultural and old days nonsense mixed up with religion. God

I think is more conserned with what you do in life rather than how much you kneel to him. So Bush showing up to church every sunday wont amount to shit seeing as hes having thoudands of his people killed for some bullshit war.

Not to mention the thousands of civillians and iraqi soldiers they are killing.

Apparently, when I responded here, the post didn't appear, so it looks like I'm gonna have to respond again.

Snoopy:

You're stupid. If someone chose to spend the rest of their life in prison,... freely. Would you question that?

I would question the motives, sure, because I wouldn't want to spent the rest of their life in prison. I would not, however, say that they negated their freedom, simply because, as you said, they chose to spend the rest of their life in prison... freely.

And if you need religion to teach you values, norms, morals and ethics, you're fucking subhuman. Nothing but cattle.

Subhuman? Hardly. The root of values, norms, morals and ethics are found in religious institutions and organizations - which are found in every human society.
