Default Drugs.

Would taking drugs be considered a sin to God?

eg. Smoking some weed, a plant which he created, or eating psychedelic mushrooms etc.

This has really bugged me for a while now.

Is it possible that the (ab)use of some drugs would be a sin, and some wouldn't?

Such as man made drugs for example.

You pay the price for whatever drugs you take anyway so it would kinda even out.

That didn't really answer my question.

But I have done a bit of my own thinking on the topic.

Drugs are only classified as 'bad' because society/the government says so.

Does that actually make it a sin?

Is there anything in the bible that refers to drugs?

Alcoholism is considered a sin but encouraged, another case of religion bowing to Mammon. There really isn't any prohibition against weed as far as I'm aware of.

if there was a god, how could he consider it a sin. the idea is subjective. you aren't harming anyone, and for some people, it brings them closer to god.

if someone could make a good arguement on why god would consider smoking weed or doing mushrooms a sin, i would genuinely like to hear it.

i also found a site a while ago that pretty much proved that manna of the bible was probably magic mushrooms. if i find it ill post it

The only drug the Bible talk about is wine. Moderation is promoted unless you concider knocking up your daughters a good thing. I believe that the people in the OT knew about pot because the Egyptians used hemp. It was probably used as a drug but weather or not non medicinal use was tabboo is something we will probably never know. Same goes for opium, they probably had it and people must have become addicted.

well, considering that god made heaven and earth and everything on earth as well i don't think it would be a sin. it probably would bring them closer to god as mentioned before, so why would He consider it a sin? If it is, does that mean the almighty one made a mistake? I think not.

P.S. 90% of mushrooms are poisonious and therefore should not be smoked.

If there is a god, he wouldn't think any less of you for taking drugs.

A sin could be described as the creation of negative energy. To maintain a balance the negative energy needs to be rectified, that it where any kind of natural punishment comes into play. The correcting of negative energy.

Smoking is a waste of whatever chemical you are trying to injest. ie: you can smoke alot of tobacco and not OD but if you eat a small amount you can be poisened.

I am suprise nobody had quoted God when he suposidly said we can use all plants.

The Bible does not approve of "drunkeness", but this does not mean it limits itself just to alcohol, the Bible does not approve of intoxication induced by any drug (I believe this is how most Christians would interpret what the Bible said, but I could be wrong).

In my view, taking drugs is not a "sin", many people have theorized that it is a natural human drive to want to get intoxicated to some degree. Why else would have our forebearers spent precious time and energy in the production of intoxicants?

But there is a dark side to drug use: Drugs in themselves may not be wrong, but their effects on human behavior sometimes are. If you're ever lived the "addict life", like I have, then you know some of the horrible things people do for drugs and while under the influence of drugs.

In my view, drugs have the potential to due more harm than good in the long run. Bad karma.

Well, I'm Buddhist, and while one of the five precepts is "avoid the use of intoxicants", I do not follow that as strictly as some other Buddhists would. I still smoke weed sometimes. But hey, I'm human.

Buddhism did help me quit speed, alcohol, and tobacco, though.
