Who's to say energy isn't created at birth?
Personally, I'm more agnostic then atheist. Why? What's my proof? Apparitions. Frankly, thats my base of evidence and I have had experiences with it. Besides that, for people who believe in basically nothing after death using the fact that you didn't know you were alive before you were born since you ceased to exist, I have a indifferent idea. When your born in my opinion, you gain a certain energy, or your "soul," you at this point possess this energy which was created.

If matter cannot be created, how then do we or anything else in the universe exist? We were never created, according to you. If nothing or no one made matter then purpose does not exist.

How does matter change its form? Unless your're refering to mass-energy, but you didn't say that.
Energy is always being "borrowed" from the vacuum. The energy that is equal to the mc² of a particle and its anti-particle are formed , out of the vacuum, from energy. The actual law is that "energy can neither be created nor destroyed; only changed in form" (the first law of thermodynamics).

Well that's the huge problem posed by the Big Bang theory. Neither Relativity nor any other theory predicts some kind of answer to the question of how the Big Bang occured. Maybe once we have a Grand Unified Theory we may discover it.

How does purpose not exist? You do what you do for a reason, correct? Even after you have taken action, the reason may no longer exist, but it did at the time and that is what made the action worthwhile. Whether this life has any meaning after it ends or not is completely separate from whether or not is has a purpose while we live it.

You really shouldn't respond to something when you don't understand it.
Case & Point: One, I do believe in purpose, therefore I believe that purpose exists.
Two, I wasn't speaking of purpose as in 'why you put food in the freakin microwave'. I was speaking of purpose on a 'Grand Scale'. Meaning, we weren't put here for any reason(s), and also that there's nothing that we do that bears any real significance 'in the end'.
It's all for nothing, the only thing that matters is what happens here in the flesh. So we might as well not even bog ourselves down with thoughts of creation and/or an afterlife. Because the only thing that matters is whether or not we 'had fun' while in the flesh. Or rather, made the 'most' of our needless existance.

Re: Who's to say energy isn't created at birth?
I DID understand what you were saying: of course nothing matters 'in the end' if there is nothing more than this life...which is all the more reason, atleast in my opinion, to assign it meaning while we're here. I'm not being hostile here, just explainin' myself. Hope this clarified what I said in the previous post.

Maybe you didn't see this, but to quote one of the Greats...( )

While no evidence supports this, maybe it's always existed?

True, however, that would mess with the psyche of many scientists as well as deep thinkers. No one who does in science believe that anything in the universe, 'just is'. No respectable scientist would accept the idea that something 'just is'.
Something cause energy to 'be'. And everyone realizes that, and that where the overbearing religion shit starts.

Science on the Big Bang theory:
"In the beginning, there was nothing. Then, for some reason, it exploded."
