Default Everybody is right.

I think there's a name for this belief, but I can't remember it.

Basically what I propose is that every single person's belief system is correct to them, so therefore they are right. If someone believes that all non-Christians are heathens and they will be damned to hell, then they are right. On the other hand, if someone else believes that everyone is equal, they are also right.

I don't see why it's so hard for some people to accept that everyone's beliefs are right from a personal standpoint, and the personal standpoint is, when you think about it, all that matters.

Discuss.

Isn't there a universal truth that's left after you strip away all illusions that form people's beliefs?

Everyone may be right from their own point of view, but let's face it most people don't know shit. In fact you could say that anything we do know, we know purely by chance, since we can only be sure that we think we know something.

everyone is right, cause everyone is wrong.

everyone is a shitty driver but you, everyone is an idiot but you, so everyone is wrong, and you're right, but you must include yourself in being wrong and until you get that, you will think you're right.

George Orwell called it 'double-think.'

Once you realize that there's a world beyond the comforts and naive securities of the proverbial walls of your five senses, you'll realize that, simply because you can imagine multiple possible conflicting scenarios, it doesn't change the fact that those opposed situations simply don't exist.

It makes it true to you, and that's all that matters.

how exactly the fuck is that all that matters?

it may be true to me, but it isnt actually true (well, you MIGHT be a flaming homosexual). people who believe something is true but isnt actually true, can in no way be 'right'.

if i believe gravity is bullshit, and jump off a building, OOPS, im fucking dead now.

no, ive heard of this before. everyone creates their own existence, and it becomes true for them. a lecturer mentioned it to us once.

it makes just as much sense as any other religion (has more holes and a sieve).

just a thought though, if you could have any religion they wanted, or any belife system, you wouldn't go for a mainstream religion. you get totally shat on once you die.

You may believe that gravity doesn't exist, but once you see proof that it exists, you will change your belief. Do you see what I'm saying? Then again, this is mainly for abstract beliefs (read: morals).

And I don't know about you, but my beliefs are more important to me than anybody else's.

in which case i was -wrong- about gravity.

but ok, so you're saying you're specifying it is true to them.

but that doesnt even mean shit

basically you're saying if someone believes something, they find it true, or if someone finds something to be true, they believe it. which is basically the same shit. people believe what they think is true, but this in no way makes it actually true, nor makes them 'right'.

it makes no sense saying that, because someone believes something, it is 'right/true'.

.

.

.

either way, of course you're beliefs are more important to you than anybody elses, because they are what you believe is true. but:

'Basically what I propose is that every single person's belief system is correct to them, so therefore they are right.'

this statement is utter bullshit.
