I would like to get input from anyone who knows and practices, or has practiced the beliefs expressed in the Qabalah. I have a book by will parfitt, that I have read, and I like the eastern philosophies, but reading a book doesnt really tell me what I need to do to really learn and take on a belief system. Please tell me about your own experiences with the QBLH

How do you practise Kabbalah? http:../../www.jewfaq.org/kabbalah.htm

"If you see any books on the subject of "practical kabbalah," you can safely dismiss them as not authentic Jewish tradition because, as these stories demonstrate, this kind of knowledge was traditionally thought to be far too dangerous to be distributed blindly to the masses."

Im not so sure you are studying the actual Jewish Kabbalah. Please explain to me some of your beliefs so that I can see how much you know about Kabbalah and we'll start from there. (For example, explain the Ten Sefirot)

EDIT: Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

Even that site does recommend books on the subject though.

Don't get me wrong I agree with what your saying still.

I did hear a story about some books that were kept in The Temple of Solomon, in a vault, and the only way one could read them was on another plane, that was the pre-requisite spiritual development.

What your saying is true of the important stuff, but it's graduly getting less stringent, in the same way that this has been happening for the past couple of hundred years with Yogic Practices.

It's amlost exactly the same senario it seems. The same with the Sufi's also.

I'm honestely still very ignorant of Qabbalah so I'm not going to say anything.

But this website has had an effect on me. Though it doesn't fit the requirements of Jewish Qabbalah, it's not realy supposed to:

Thankyou for the link too

I also found this when I was looking for that quote....How good is it!

"I am a sculptor, a molder of form. In every moment I shape an idol. But then, in front of you, I melt them down."-Rumi

I'm not saying that you shouldn't try to practise this Kabbalah, all I'm saying is that it is unlikely to work in the way the Kabbalistic masters managed to make it work because you will lack the hidden knowledge, which truly is hidden.

I suggest if you want this knowledge that you go visit in Tsfat, Israel. Visit some Rabbis, ask some questions.

So far the book I am reading has talked about the meaning of the spheres, the paths between, the different worlds, planes, and columns. I got a little bit of info on the Hebrew language, each letter has meaning, each word has numerical value, and that there is a study of how some words have the same numerical value and thus a relationship.

That plus some excersizes in development of different spheres.

From the inkling I have, I really feel the need to learn more. But like you said, books just don't do it. Would I get anywhere if I went down to my local sinagog(I know thats spelled wrong) and asked the rabbi?

Lol. I'm actually a guy.

And penjo0in, the Rabbi may very well refuse to tell you anything because:

a) some Rabbis don't believe in it at all.

b) you aren't a married Jewish male over 40

c) they would be afraid you would abuse the knowledge.

However do call up your local synagogue and ask if there are any lectures about Kabbalah that you can attend, because my Synagogue has lectures about it sometimes.

Or just call up and ask the Rabbi some questions, he may answer you.

Sorry to break this to you mate, but the Qabalah is Jewish. Saying you want to study the non-Jewish Qabalah is like saying you want to study the non-mulsim Koran.

Not exactly, there is Hermitic Kabbalah, Christian Cabbalah and so on, these days you can find Kabbalah mixed with almost anything.

Not that this is good or bad, it can be the extreme of both, but most mystic systems fit together very well, if looked at inteligently by a serious and learned person.

Of course it's Jewish in it's roots, but so is Christianity.

What he's saying is not like a non-Muslim Koran, but more like Kabir saying that Hinduism and Islam are the same, and being worshiped as a saint by both sided, whilst they're symoltaneously hating the other.

Problem being when removed from the Torah and Talmudic context the Kabbalah makes little sense at all.

It also got altered and changed to fit in with Christianity, kind of like the OT was.

Yah, that is true/

If you forget the souly 'Jewish' parts and look at the things that have a wider application, I would probably think they still make sense though, it's not 'real' Qabbalah of course then, but many of the ideas can do fit well and quite easily with yogic philosophy, also that of the Sufism and others.

I'm taking this from the site I gave earlier, mostly, a little other knowedlge, so perhaps you should look at that, if they're wrong then so am I.

For Adam was composed of 248 limbs and 365 sinews also in the aspect of the souls that are within him. in a manner such that each part mentionedwas devided into the above mentioned order. How so? The portion of the yehidah(sublime soul) of Atsiluth is devided into 613 organs and sinews. and each orgtan and sinew thereof is called on root. Likewise the hayyah or neshamah or ruah or nefesof Atsiluth -each aspect thereof is divided into 613 roots, and like wise each aspect of the five faces (partsufim) of Ber'ah is devided into 613 roots, and all of them are called Neshamah of Beri'ah, as mentioned above...And these are called 613 major roots-that is to say that less than this is immpossible.

"The word Kabbalh comes from the word cable, to twist, confuse"

That has to be the funniest shit I have ever heard. Qabalah comes from Qibel, and means to recieve. Qabalah is a passing of deep spiritual knowledge from IHVH to you; and from your inner being to your consciousness.

Man, I'm an atheist and I know mo' 'bout this shit than you.

Hey though, that one makes more sence but isn't it a little twisted, the kabbalah.

I hate to try and convince someone of anything about myself but the BIG-BIG has his hand on me and has been throwin some freaky shit my way since I can remember.

Maybe I will be able to share more of my connection with everything that is and everything that was at a later time.

Wouldn't the system be infinite though? Each sphere contains its own tree of life, with its own spheres, with their own trees of life, etc.
