You do know they have it translated into English, right?

Never read it myself, but it was my understanding it's mostly rules, and not a lot of stories like the Bible. You read one chapter, you get the general idea for the whole book.

Hmm i will check it out then. Of course me reading it and trying to understand it will be put down by any Muslim cleric/scholar as it isnt in Arabic. But what the hell, I wanna know where these suicide bombers get there beliefs from.

I understand that Goebbels once said something along the lines of the nazi party should of aligned itself more strongly with the arab world as Islam was a much stronger warlike religion than Christianity.

rah.. Goebbels was right:

Surah 48:25

"25. They are the ones who denied Revelation and hindered you from the Sacred Mosque and the sacrificial animals, detained from reaching their place of sacrifice. Had there not been believing men and believing women whom ye did not know that ye were trampling down and on whose account a crime would have accrued to you without (your) knowledge, ((Allah) would have allowed you to force your way, but He held back your hands) that He may admit to His Mercy whom He will. If they had been apart, We should certainly have punished the Unbelievers among them with a grievous Punishment. "

Yeah the Qu'ran is a lot of rules and sayings it seems to me. Apparently the true religion of Abram...

Actually, theres not much you can say against the Qu'ran. I havent seen a single prophecy in it, its all rules and regulations.

No wonder there isnt much scientific debate against Islam... intresting read though, and very easy to understand.

It's not supposed to be the true religion of Abraham, at least not in the way that you would think it means. The claim is that Islam(=surrender) is the only religion.

As much as Abraham was a Jew he was a Muslim.

I personally think they are both bullshit. If there's any religion I can relate to, it's probably Budhism, but the Western and Middle-Eastern religions are completely bullshit. Especially Christianity and Islam, which are both essentially combinations of both Western and Middle-Eastern traditions.

You're right, a very small section of the Bible belongs in the "grossly exaggerated non-fiction" section.

There is no proper way to spell Quran with the English language. So, you're all wrong and you're all right.

The Quran is really an extention from the Torah. The New Testament goes one way and The Quran another.

But, they both extentions of the Torah, so you can't really compare them to the Torah.

Cheers,

Lost

The Muslims believe Christians got it wrong. They think Jesus was just another prophet, not the "son of God." So that's why the angel Gabriel comes to visit Muhammad to set them straight, about 600 years after Jesus Christ lived.

But with this month long visit, in which Muhammad never leaves the cave and goes on a fast, Gabriel adds a lot of other things as he tells him what to write in the Koran. But for every strict rule, there's usually an exception to the rule when dealing with the non-believers, or "infidels." For a million rules that could be punished by death if you did them to a fellow Muslim, it's perfectly fine if done to an infidel.

This whole thing just seems weird to me. Why did Gabriel come to Muhammad and not God? I mean, I would think that if millions of people who's ancestors were Jews converted to Christianity thinking Jesus was God in the form of man, God himself would want to come down and straighten them out. And not after 600 years. And not to a new religion of Islam, but back to Judiasm. Just doesn't make sense to me, and that's why I'm not Muslim.

Because Judaism was supposedly corrupted, along with Christianity. Their books have supposedly been re-written, then Allah sent the final and ultimate religion; Islam. He made the Qur'an perfect. It has scientific information which has only been discovered in the modern age. It also cannot be changed. It has been memorized my thousands of Muslims and it has a mathematical code within it's words. Very cool. I think.....

I ripped it from one forum run by a muslim admin, here he explains what the muslims think about Jesus:

[hr]

Muslims respect and revere Jesus. They consider him one of the greatest of God's prophets and messengers to humankind. A Muslim never refers to him simply as "Jesus", but always adds the phrase "upon him be peace." The Qur'an confirms his virgin birth, and a special surah of the Qur'an is entitled "Mary." The Qur'an describes the Annunciation as follows:

"'Behold (O Mary!)' The Angel said, 'God has chosen you, and purified you, and chosen you above the women of all nations. O Mary, God gives you good news of a word from Him, whose name shall be the Anointed (Masih or Messiah), Jesus son of Mary, honored in this world and in the hereafter, and one of those brought near to God. He shall speak to the people from his cradle and in maturity, and shall be of the righteous.'

"She said: 'O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me?' He said: 'Even so; God creates what He wills. When He decrees a thing, He says to it, "Be!" and it is.'" (Qur'an 3:42-7)

Jesus was born miraculously through the same power that had brought Adam into being without a father: "Truly the likeness of Jesus with God is as the likeness of Adam. He created him of dust and then said to him, 'Be!' and he was." (Qur'an 3:59)

During his prophetic mission, Jesus performed many miracles. The Qur'an tells us that he said:

"I have come to you with a sign from your Lord: I make for you out of clay, as it were, a figure of a bird, and breathe into it and it becomes a bird by God's leave. And I heal the blind, and the lepers, and I raise the dead by God's leave." (Qur'an 3:49)

Neither Muhammad nor Jesus came to change the basic doctrine of the belief in One God, brought by earlier prophets, but to confirm and renew it. In the Qur'an, Jesus is reported as saying that he came: "To attest the law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden to you; I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear God and obey me." (Qur'an 3:50)

The Prophet Muhammad said:

"Whoever believes that there is none worthy of worship but God, alone without partner, that Muhammad is His messenger, that Jesus is the servant and messenger of God, His word which He bestowed on Mary and a spirit proceeding from Him, and that Paradise and Hell are true, shall be received by God into Heaven." (A Hadith from the collections of al Bukhari)

[hr]

Quran 43:61 And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have nodoubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way.

Islam doesn't believe in total extermination of different groups. Anyone can be Muslims, German, Jew, Arab, Chinese, and you're all to be brothers and sisters in Islam.

I found this interesting after reading some pamphlets and part of an English translation of the Qu'ran. The Torah also has a mathematical code.
