Sorry its taken so long to post this, and I still haven't got everything together, but I thought Id better do it or id never get around to it. Anyway...

"Bring in your idols to tell us what is going to happen. Tell us what is going to happen. Tell us what the former things were, so that we may consider them and know their final outcome. Or declare to us the things to come, tell us what the future holds, so that we may know that you are gods." - Isaiah 41:22-23

Essentially the Hebrew God, Yahweh, is laying down a test of divinity. Miracles can be explained away or counterfeit. Revelations; subjective and questionable. But prophecy....

If you say something will happen in the future, it either occurs or it does not.

So this is the challenge that Yaweh sets, and by doing so, provides us with a means of seeing whether he indeed is (a) God.

Does anyone know of instances where someone has told us "what the future holds" accurately and clearly? (i.e. not as a result of "shoehorning" retrospectively?)

Edit: I've just realised i've misspelt Yahweh throught this post....

jewish people dont use the term yahweh. at all. ever.

we say

Hashem

God

Adonai

when the word for god is written in hebrew, it is not to be read phonetically (sp?)

when it is read that way, it says YahYeh.

this is probably where the term yahweh came from. It is incorrect.

Technically, that's not the proper spelling either...

Edit: And as stated above, Jews don't use that term to describe god. It's kind of like calling your parents by their first name only a million times worse.

And another name I'd like to add that Jews use often to describe god is "Elohim". The closest translation I can think of for that term is "All gods of one god", which I've always found to be the most accurate description of the judaic god.

Cheers,

Lost

Thanks for telling me what i already knew... that's cool though, to see people actually say something about it.

I was trying to find some more info on this thread the other day (google: "prophecy" and watch all the crazies come out!), and I found an article on infidels.com that undermined some of the stuff I'd posted before regarding the propecy about Tyre. So i'm keen to explore this subject openly.

Originally I was going to scan a bunch of stuff and put it on a website for this, though tech. and time problems are making that difficult. If anyone is genuinely interested in exploring this claim to diety, I'm still happy to do it.
