I'm tired of all these pompous christians. In the south they won't remove the 10 commandments from the COURT house, yeah, that's seperation of church and state for you.

And just the superiour look on some of their faces when they can say to themselves, "He's probably going to hell." As if they were God themselves. I believe in God, but I dont like organized religion, becuase people corrupt good things. Now go run to your bibles and point your fingers like good little sheep.

What the hell do you care?

You don't believe in hell anyway.

What, are you afraid that they can condemn you?

BTW, I am for the seperation of church and state. the Ten Commandments don't belong in a government building.

Just for clarification.

A majority of people can only deal with the absurdity of existence by conforming (or being sheep) or through self dillusion.

Which do you think you fall under?

All in the name of and done by people of Christ a man who said "Love they enemies", "If a man strikes your cheek turn to him the other one" and various other prospects of peace and love and everything the like. If all these christians really WERE christians it would be a good thing.

*sigh*

ship of fools indeed.

Finally. Someone who agrees with me.

It appears to be the in-thing, like insulting Microsoft among linux users. (Not that it doesn't deserve it, it's just some say 'MS-Sucks', as opposed to a pleasent, well-rounded argument). While I don't really give a crap what someone worships, so long as it doesn't involve blood sacrifice and whatnot. It does, however, bother me not that people dislike Christianity, but that people are ungreatful towards it. Christianity built the west. It encourages innovation to a degree larger than most other religions. It is not as much of a slave religion as the others. Without Christian ideals, it is very possible that the West would not exist today, and which of these situations do you prefer:

Reality 1:

This reality.

Reality 2:

Eternal servitude toward, say, the head of the House of Sauud -- no alcohol or drugs, no subservient activity, no rights for any women, and a large police force that is like the Inquisition but worse. And since I'm going to assume that some people will wonder, the house of Sauud is the ruling family of Arabia. Hence "Sauudi Arabia". And the above is an example of life in that country. Yes, the king still has ultimate power.

And kindly do not balk on and on about it bringing on slavery et al -- such things are simply a lie and I've explained that in pages of detail elsewhere.

Thankyou and good day.

Christianity didn't, Christians did. This was only the case because it was near impossible to lead your life without being one.

Not even to mention the non-Christians influential in the rise of the west (architects of the French revolution, for example, or America's founding fathers.)

Yeah? Then why were the Muslims so damn advanced during the middle ages?

I'll dispute that point.

You mean like the system Christian fundamentalists would have us adopt? It has nothing to do with the Saudi government being Muslim, it has everything to do with them being fundamentalists.

The minority.

Sounds like your stereotypical Christian to put forth a "dilemma" so fraught with holes.

I dont insult christians becuase its popular, I do it because they're religion is flawed. Take catholics for example. How would you like to be a homosexual man growing up in a catholic church and having it pumped into your head that your going to hell. And THEN you find out all these priests are queer child molesters. hypocrits. I say look into budhism. They have the right idea.

Did you honestly think, that of all the forums on this site, that this one wouldn't have Christian blather on it?

...

So if you're so tired of it, why enter a forum you already know will have it?

What bugs me more than anything is people who believe that they are 'holier than thou'. The same kind of people that would, because of 'their interpretation of their christian values' have everybody who smokes dope or whatever thrown in prison for their own good, for a long time. Christian tough love. The same assholes that burned people at the stake. Sectarianism and people, bad mix. It's too bad people leave Jesus and his teachings out of the equation. I renounced Roman Catholicism years ago because I did not want to be labeled. Especially a religion that has become phony (as if it wasn't phony since Constantinople made christianity in his own image by sanitizing the bible to be less critical of the holders of political power (can't beat'um join'um). If you can't beat it, accept it and edit it! I wonder though, what did constantinople steal from humanity, I think he stole the true Christ from the world, what a world it could have been. I feel ripped off! Their is nothing wrong with (original) christianity, just the delusional people who practice it and don't question it and how it's presented to modern man. To end this, I'm probably closer to Jesus than some who practice christianity and go to church every week. For one I'm not polluted with religious crap, like angels have feathered wings, god is white and has a santa clause beard, we play harps in heaven, you go to heaven if you pray to Christ, all the other otherwise decent people are going to hell. It's no wonder christianity is so slammed, it's the 'Kristiuns' dammit!

Where do I begin to solve this dilema for you, oh I know

My post by all means belongs here. I think your just too gung-ho to completely reject my words as "christian bashing" than taking the time to realize my point. Christians in the U.S. tend to as a majority have a feeling of superiority. After all, they're going to heaven, and everyone not christian isn't. Whether they concoiusly act that way or not, their is just too much arrogance to coincide with good mental health.

No debate here. It certainly does belong.

But if this kind of conversation annoys you - you don't.

Not so much.

Rather, I was wondering why you'd wander into a place where stuff you knew you'd dislike runs rampant.

I wouldn't walk into a room that I knew beforehand is too hot. Why would you walk into a room that you knew beforehand would contain information you can no longer stand?

Oh, I don't think the feeling is unique to Christians. Nor is it unique to Americans.

So they try to spread their intellectual plague like wildfire.

I have a work-in-progress for those individuals. I mean, it's all about getting their own asses into heaven, right?

Believe or not, they don't want you to burn in hell.

Read your history. Virtually everything we hold dear in our culture has its roots in early Christianity. When Jesus of Nazareth was born, western civilization was ruled by pagans who viewed power and glory as the prime virtues. Slaves were horribly abused, and women of every sort were treated little better. Members of the Roman nobility kept their wives around primarily for political and reproductive reasons, while their day-to-day sexual appetite was satisfied by girls and boys abducted by hired thugs.

The Nazarene movement introduced some truly revolutionary ideas that would shape our civilization. Most importantly, they preached that everyone is equal before God. Material wealth was proclaimed to be irrelevant; all individuals, male and female, noble and slave, would be judged by the same laws.

It's also important to remember that ideas don't just pop into people's heads; they evolve from less radical ones. Separation between church and state really began with Jesus and his "render unto Caesar" statement, and the church insisted on being fiercely independent as an entity, setting itself as complement and foil to temporal government. Christianity did another radical thing - in addition to women owing certain duties their husbands, they were themselves owed certain duties from their partners. In pagan Rome, women were baby machines.

Down through the centuries, the chief opponents of war, slavery, and poverty have been Christians and Christian leaders. A Spanish priest was the first to speak out about Colombus' mistreatment of the indians. Young Catholic seminary students staged large protests against Spain's repeated wars with Turkey. Anglican ministers fought hard to end the English slave trade, a precedent that would soon spread to America.

Even the non-Christian thinkers were affected by the Christian thinkers that came before them. Come on, read a book before you say silly things like this.

I didn't bother reading the previous very long winded post, but decided to comment on it anyways. Funny isn't it. Just because some core values are shared with those of christianity doesn't mean it should be a part of courts or schools.

Did I say that? Show me where I said that. My point is that, for all its cosmological fallacies, Christianity has built our society. I was talking to Craftian, not you. And that whole not-bothering-to-read-the-post idea is just super, I'm sure ignoring opposing viewpoints will take you far in the realm of intellectual development.

um...yeah well guess what, the Catholics religion is not flawed, read the profession of faith, find where it says homosexuals go to hell and then come back to me. If you knew remotely ANYTHING you would know that Catholics specifically do not believe that homosexuals go to hell! MY GOD THERE ARE IDIOTS IN THIS FORUM BEYOND HOPE!
