Please visit and read this site.

I am interested to hear what other think about this view of “The Matrix” and its religious symbolism.

Please, remember, this is discussion about Religion & “The Matrix”, not why you think “The Matrix” is an awesome move or why you think Neo was able to stop the sentinels in the real world, etc. (Unless, of course, it relates to religion).

The Bible = mostly fiction.

The Matrix, likewise.

True, however, like the bible, The Matrix has some underlying truths to it.

I'm with you Accesser.

The bible is a large percent fiction, but it does convey valuable lessons.

We all know that most of teh old testament and a fair amount of the new testament is total bollocks. But, it has been proved that Jesus really existed as a person, if only a very clever person who convinced everyone he was the son of god.

The old testament is mainly just ideas conveyed through stories, much like the works of Plato or George Orwell.

Anyway... this post is pointless, and I don't know why I started writing it.

lol! what are you basing this on?

It has been proven that a huge flood to cover the earth at one point in time, and it has been proven that is was possible by earthly means for the people of Isreal to walk through the dead sea (because of tides) and it has been proven that such great kings did live; David, Saul, Solomon, Josiah etc.

And the four books that didnt make the bible have proof still standing today that they really happened (eg: Masada)

The bible is not myth at all..there's no proof against it but there is proof for it...

edit: and there is no way you can compare the Matrix to the bible...

^ I'm sure these events did happen.

But the old testemant is hardly straight forward truth. I doubt adam and eve were the very first humans and they lived in a cool garden without permission to eat the fruit etc.

That stuff is mostly metaphorical, poetic and only people with no genuine desire to know god will believe it without question.

I can't believe this bullshit. Where do you get your information? Did you pull it out of your ass?

Firstly, "It has been proven that a huge flood to cover the earth at one point in time" Not it hasn't. In fact there is much more evidence to support the exact opposite. Think about it. If there was at one time enough water to cover the highest mountaintop at least by six feet, where did all the water go? Don't mention the polar ice caps. Water expands when it freezes, so if it was frozen the whole earth would be covered in ice.

Secondly, "it has been proven that is was possible by earthly means for the people of Isreal to walk through the dead sea (because of tides)" Possibly the only true statement in your post, however it doesn't prove anything. In fact, i'd say it was very helpful to the atheistic side of the debate. It proves that the "parting of the red sea" can be explained by natural phenomena.

Also, "it has been proven that such great kings did live; David, Saul, Solomon, Josiah etc." ...and your point is? Just because the people may have existed doesn't prove that they did what they are said to have done in the bible. Also just because they got a few characters right, doesn't mean the whole book is true.

And lastly I believe we can compare the Bible to whatever the hell we want. If you don't like it, then leave and be satisfied with believing we will all burn in hell, while we go on believing that you are wasting your time.

I think you took what he said the wrong way. We have to take it in context, the whole earth at that time was just a few settlements in northern africa, and several surrounding the mediterranean and other seas close by.

There LOTS of evidence that several mass floods took place around the mediterranean, agean, black sea, etc...

i must say...if he who sees only what he wants is doomed to be blind to truth...then what about thouse who are already blind?

and then...what is the truth?

The bible was written many thousends of years ago...over many hundreds of years.

and thus, logic states that...if there was an almighty being...that killed the world, saveing a SINGLE family(Noah's)...then wouldent we all be imbred?

And then...if we were all imbred...then why are we smart enough to do the things we have done?

But.....

If the bible is incorrect...and ther was more than ONE "creator"...then possibilits can be endless.

And in the matrix...there was one "creator" in the start...but in the end there was two. So if the bible is incorrect..or just off a little. Then there can be gods everywhere...doing anything. Goverinig anything. And if...in the matrix...there are "programs" governing everything, then there...in all possibility...are "gods" goverining everything in, and out of, the matrix...

Think about it...he who stares at the wall long enough, well see the door.
